We are an innovative and dynamic Long-Term Care, Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living facility currently looking for a dynamic Registered Nurse / RN to join the management team as our Assistant Director of Nursing. The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for assisting our Director of Nursing in planning and directing the functions of the nursing department in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of an Assistant Director of Nursing:

  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc. as necessary

  • Ensure that direct nursing care be provided by a licensed nurse, a CNA, and/or a nurse aide trainee qualified to perform the procedure

  • Review nurses' notes to ensure that they are informative and descriptive of the nursing care being provided, that they reflect the resident's response to the care, and that such care is provided in accordance with the resident's wishes

  • Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medications are being administered as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled

  • Provide direct nursing care as necessary

  • Responsible for weekend management coverage and on-call duties on a rotating basis or as needed.

  • Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of timely in-service training classes

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You would be a great fit for our team if you have the following:

  • State licensed RN

  • Five (5) years of healthcare experience including prior experience as a successful Director of Nursing / DON

  • Extensive knowledge of state survey process for Long Term Care

  • This position requires travel between the campuses

  • Must be an effective communicator and team builder

GENERAL PURPOSE Provides services to assigned location in the absence of Director of Nursing Services on a temporary basis until the position is no longer required or has been filled by a permanent Director of Nursing Services Plans, coordinates and manages the nursing department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to residents. Maintains quality care that is consistent with company and regulatory standards. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES * Oversees the nursing staff for the provision of quality and appropriate resident / patient care that meets or exceeds company and regulatory standards * Assists in the preparation of annual budget for the living center. Monitors monthly performance of nursing services in relation to budget and intervenes as needed * Schedules and performs rounds to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care * Maintains administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for the proper charting and documentation of care, medications and treatments * Hires nursing staff, oversee the provision of orientation/training by a qualified Director of Education and retains qualified staff to carry out nursing programs and services. Reviews employee performance and conducts periodic performance appraisals timely * Develops and implements the written staffing plan and nursing schedule that reflects the needs of the resident and patient population * Evaluates current and potential residents and patients to determine and maintain living center's ability to provide appropriate level of care * Maintains regular and ongoing communication with the living center's Medical Director to identify educational needs for staff and provide quality care and services to meet the needs of residents. * Manages clinical aspects of state or federal government survey processes * Conducts daily Clinical Start-up meeting with the interdisciplinary team to review resident and patient status * Attends the weekly at risk meeting and reviews modifications to residents' and patient's plan of care * Oversees and monitors the Resident Assessment process for accuracy, attends care planning conferences periodically to determine compliance with care planning guidelines * Collects, reviews and analyzes clinical outcome data and determines trends. Brings identified concerns to the QA&A committee for development of appropriate plans of action CODE OF CONDUCT * Must adhere to the Company's Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy including documentation and reporting responsibilities QUALIFICATIONS * Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing * Valid State licensure as an RN * Must hold and maintain a current CPR certification * One to three (1-3) years of management or supervisory experience in long-term care or acute care. Restorative or geriatric nursing experience preferred. * Supervises nursing staff and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible * Proficient in the use of personal computer * Must be able to travel, including overnight stays * Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS * Must have ability to complete multiple projects * Capable of working with minimal supervision * Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information * Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, government regulators and other employees at all levels PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS * Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, fingering, fine hand coordination, ability to talk and hear; ability to read and write; ability to communicate with personnel, ability to remain calm under stress.
