What We Are Looking For
Baylor University seeks an outstanding professional to become the Assistant Director for Multicultural Affairs. Our ideal candidate is knowledgeable in programming and initiatives regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion, and has a strong passion to equip students to thrive in celebrating not only themselves, but willingly embracing the culture of others.
A Master's degree (in Education, or a related field), three years of relevant work experience, and an active Christian faith are required. Preferred candidates will possess a Master's degree, and five years of relevant work experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the required degree.
The selected candidate possesses:
Knowledge and experience in programming regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Strong oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of the needs and experiences of African American, Asian, Hispanic, and Native American populations on collegiate campuses.
An appreciation for, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment; inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
This position requires the availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
What You Will Do
The Assistant Director for Multicultural Affairs will engage programming centered around further advancing a culture around diversity, equity, and inclusion practices that prepare students for worldwide leadership and service. Responsibilities include the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives that affect individual behaviors, support student success, and advocate for policies that address campus and community health.
Oversee the Sr. Coordinator for Education and Training
Responsible for coordinating Multicultural Affairs Engagement Programs
Planning and implementation of programming and funding for student organization events
Planning and implementation of Heritage Month programming/celebrations
Responsible for Welcome Week programming (Mosaic Mixer, Mosaic Hump Day, Mosaic Week)
Implements Homecoming week activities in conjunction with the Multicultural Affairs Office Manager
Assist the Associate Director with Social Media communications and Virtual Programming
Supervises the Graduate Apprentice and Department Chaplain
Collaborate to develop strategies that enhance student learning and the overall student experience
Serve as primary contact and liaison for students
Work on special projects as assigned
Provide support and/or referral services to help students achieve social and educational goals
Develop outreach and marketing plans to encourage student engagement at Baylor
Exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, and racial and ethnic backgrounds
Perform all other duties as assigned to support the Baylor University mission
