BASIC FUNCTION: The Assistant Director of MDS Coordination will play a key role in overseeing the MDS process within our skilled nursing facility (SNF) company, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and optimizing reimbursement. This position requires strong leadership abilities, clinical expertise, and knowledge of MDS assessment protocols. This nurse also has a focus on clinical reimbursement and assists with appropriate reimbursement for clinical assessments.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, CREDENTIALS: Current Indiana Registered Nursing license. Must have five or more years experience in multi-sight support in MDS or related position within a skilled nursing organization. Must possess a strong understanding of MDS assessment protocols, RAI process, CMS quality programs, and regulatory requirements. Excellent leadership and management skills required. The ability to effectively lead and motivate a team. Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have a valid Indiana Operator's license.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Reimbursement
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The employee must be able to perform each essential function effectively to be successful in this position.
1.MDS Coordination Oversight:
Assist the Regional Assessment Specialists in managing and supervising the MDS teams to ensure accurate and timely completion of RAI process to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Monitor MDS completion rates and accuracy, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
2.Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to MDS assessments, including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
Stay current with changes in MDS assessment protocols, RAI manual updates, and other regulatory changes impacting MDS coordination.
Oversee departmental regular audits of MDS assessments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
3.Reimbursement Optimization:
Collaborate with the Managed Care and Billing departments to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for services rendered based on MDS assessments.
Review and analyze MDS data to identify opportunities for reimbursement optimization and quality improvement initiatives.
Provide education and training to staff on documentation practices and coding guidelines to support accurate reimbursement.
4.Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Work closely with the interdisciplinary team, including nursing, therapy, social services, and dietary, to gather information for MDS assessments and develop comprehensive care plan
Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the MDS coordination teams.
