Assistant Director of International Admissions and Enrollment

POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Assistant Director of International Admissions and Enrollmentwill play a fundamental role in recruiting international students in the New York Metro Area and in assisting new international students with onboarding and course registration. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview responsibilities, the International Student Admissions Specialist will manage the following:

  • Responsible for recruiting international students while providing guidance and support to applicants and families throughout the admissions and enrollment process.

  • Review, evaluate international applications while considering international educational credentials, including academic records, grading systems and language proficiency test scores to determine US equivalency.

  • Responsible for assisting new international students with onboarding, course registration, guidance related to F-1 Visa status, and other services to assist international students' transition to their college experience at QCC.

  • Represent Queensborough Community College at domestic and international recruitment events such as college fairs, school visits, conduct information sessions (virtually and in-person), and other events to promote QCC to prospective students and their families.

  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and coordinate maintenance of SEVIS records for international students.

  • Manage advisory case load of international students leveraging advising technologies such as CUNYFirst (PeopleSoft), Starfish, EAB, Degree Audit, CRM System, and other relevant platforms.

  • May supervise staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Comprehensive understanding of international student recruitment strategies and educational systems around the world.

  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communications skills and the ability to engage with diverse populations and international partners.

  • Ability to conduct small and large group workshops and presentations.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for recruitment purposes.

  • Experience with academic advisement of international students and/or in a community college setting.

  • Familiarity with CUNYFirst, DegreeWorks, Starfish, CRM systems or comparable student systems.

  • Knowledge of SEVP regulations and ability to manage student SEVIS records.

  • CUNY experience is preferred.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Organizes and administers programs to support the success of international students.

  • Coordinates international student recruitment and enrollment services

  • Collects, evaluates, and reports information on a number of international student success factors

  • Works with campus departments on programs which promote the success of international students

  • Creates and implements communications strategies, workshops/events, and other special resources to support the international student community

  • Monitors compliance activities at the campus (e.g., visas, SEVIS and other reports) and stays current on regulations and other developments

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with education and experience. Salary Range: $75,467 to $82,928 per annum.

MPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment. After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an extension from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. an employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption os granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHelath website.
