Responsibilities:Responsible for assisting the Director in leading and managing a successful
department. The Assistant Director will oversee the day to day operations of the department and provide operational and administrative support.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Must be ServSafe Manager Certified or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
Must be ServSafe Allergen Certified or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
Effective oral, written communication, and technological skills
Previous experience working in a food production environment
School nutrition training and work experience preferred
Basic Computer Skills
Familiar with Google Suite
Supervisory experience
Physical
Requirements:Extensive physical demands including but not limited to lifting up to 40lbs, bending,
pushing, and pulling
Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot/cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment
Constant standing, occasional sitting
Performance
Responsibilities:
Management of Day To Day Operations
●Assists in oversight of kitchen managers and food service staff
●Assists in recruiting, interviewing, reference checking, hiring, training, disciplining, and evaluating food service staff
●Coordinates staff coverage including substitute coverage
●Oversees preparation, service, and sales of foods in all schools; ensures operational consistency and program compliance
●Provides onsite support to cafeteria managers and staff
●Responds to reports of broken equipment by assessing repair/replacement needs, placing work orders or facilitating repair calls to service companies
●Provides training to staff regarding, food safety/sanitation, meal patterns, state/federal regulations, POS system
●Conducts site inspections and works with Kitchen Managers and the Director to address any concerns
●Performs other duties as assigned by the Director
Operational Support
●Provides recommendations to the Director regarding staffing, production, scheduling, and time efficiency
●Manages district's Free and Reduced Program including; communication to school departments and families, preparation of annual Free and Reduced Application, processing of submitted online and paper applications,conducting direct certification, and conducting verification
●Assists with administration of catering, food recycling, farm to school, and other program areas
●Provides customer service, promotes the program, and provides information with parents, staff, students, and community
●Completes Accuclaim assignment before designated deadline
●Assists with management of district's POS system and other software systems
●Assists with marketing programs
●Assists with menu or recipe development
●Attends state conferences, trainings, and food shows
●Stays current with state and federal food service regulations for training and implementation to ensure compliance
●Performs other duties as assigned by the Director
Administrative Support
●Promptly consolidates and processes vendor invoices for payment according to warrant schedule, checking and ensuring that quantity of food and supplies match order
●Reconciles daily deposits including online payments, completes weekly turnover
●Gathers bi-weekly time sheets from kitchens, verifies total hours submitted by each staff member is correct, reports any schedule discrepancies to the Director, enters data into MUNIS
●Monitors catering payments, follows up with unpaid invoices
●Inputs student information into POS system including allergy entry from nurses, new picture uploads, updates to accounts
●Assists director with collection efforts of negative accounts
●Processes mail for the department
●Maintains logs and records
●Communicates with other departments
●Performs other duties as assigned by the Director
Terms of employment: 30-40 hours per week, 200 Days
