Wilson College is currently seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Financial Aid. The Assistant Director will be responsible for providing timely information to students and families regarding all available aid programs, as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Office. The role entails managing, awarding, and disbursing merit and need-based aid to both undergraduate and graduate students. The Assistant Director will also be expected to provide aid information and processing in a timely manner, with a demonstrated understanding of customer service to students, families, and the campus community. Ensures compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations, and provides leadership, support, and training to staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Administers all federal, state, institutional and private aid programs in accordance with current laws, rules and regulations.
Assists with packaging aid offers on a timely basis, both early estimates for new students and actual awards for continuing students.
Prepares for and disburses aid to student accounts, and reviews credit balance refunds for accuracy.
Works with student and families with reduced incomes and special circumstances that may impact aid eligibility.
Maintains internal standards to ensure accuracy of ISIR data and resolve conflicting information, in conjunction with the Financial Aid Counselor.
Identifies qualified students to receive endowed funds, revises aid offers accordingly, and monitors endowed spending at the instruction of the Director.
Processes private education loans and completes documentation for external funding sources.
Processes federal direct loan documents, originates loans, and resolves identified loan issues through Common Origination and Disbursement.
Responsible for identifying and recalculating aid for students who withdraw from courses (Return of Title IV) and notifying students of changes to aid eligibility and/or post-withdrawal disbursements.
Participate in staff and committee meetings, as assigned.
Supervises the Financial Aid Counselor as well as student workers, which includes training for daily operational tasks and regular one-on-one mentoring.
Fosters and models excellent customer service to students, families, and the campus community.
Work with the Director to create leveraging strategies that attract and retain qualified students.
Performs other duties as requested by the Director.
COMPETENCY:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to effectively and accurately convey information to students, faculty, and staff, providing outstanding customer service.
Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs.
Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, flexible, and experience overseeing multiple priorities
Aptitude for exercising judgement and maintaining confidentiality
A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently with little supervision using initiative and sound judgment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of financial aid experience.
Experience using an automated financial aid system desired. Experience with Ellucian Colleague and/or Banner preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
