The Assistant Director of Financial Aid supports and works closely with the Director of Financial Aid to provide oversight for all aspects of the operation of the offices of financial aid.
The individual is responsible for collaborating with the Director of Financial Aid in developing policy and procedures for the college in regard to financial aid compliance.REPORTS TO:This position reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid.COMPENSATION:Anticipated starting salary will commensurate with education and work experience.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher.Experience with Title IV funding processes and/or knowledge of automated financial aid systems.Must possess a strong customer service orientation and excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.Must have five years of progressive financial aid experience.
Examples of Work Responsible for supervisor and training of financial aid staff members to include Financial Aid Counselors, clerical support staff, and student assistants.Insures proper procedures are followed concerning data management, file maintenance, and confidentiality.Must be able to make sound independent decisions where professional judgment is required, while maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines

Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures as related to financial aid administration.Requires contact with administrators, staff, faculty, students, parents, private and governmental agencies, and auditors.Will work with all facets of financial aid to include, but not limited to: awarding and counseling, student packaging, compliance, verification, grants, and scholarships.Processes Title IV funding and insures all federal regulations for processing and awarding of funds are adhere to.Assists with the development of policies and procedures concerning departmental processes.Responsible for reconciling financial reports to federal and college accounting systems.Prepares reports required by granting agencies and reconciles the Pell Grant, FSEOG Programs, Federal Work Study, and TOPS Program.Competent use of automated financial aid systems relative to Title IV, EDE, and NSLDS.
Manage EDExpress and EDConnect Programs.Assures compliance with all federal, state, local, institutional, and other financial aid regulations.Maintains compliance with applicable regulations, institutional policies and procedures and donor restrictions concerning scholarships.Performs daily financial aid processes using BANNER 2000.Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities include the following: 30% Lead the Campus Life Coordinator for Leadership and Campus Life graduate assistant for leadership. Oversee the LSU Food Pantry operation for student patrons with the assistance of staff and student volunteers and the LSU Food Pantry Board of Supervisors. Provide for programming resources and expertise for University committees and projects related to service. 20% Oversee Leadership and Service area budgets and program planning programming. Engage and assist staff and student leaders to prepare, evaluate and accept event proposals using sound campus research, budgetary planning, data from learning outcomes assessments and event evaluations. Review and approve purchases and expenditures. Negotiate and review contracts for professional services for events. Prepare regular reports of budget-related activities. Work with University departments and partners to support Campus Life events though appropriate co-sponsorships. 20% Serve as a Tier One staff member on the Campus Life Volunteer Management Plan when activated by the LSU Emergency Operations Center. Lead, coordinate and evaluate University-wide programming for Fall Fest, Holiday Spectacular, and the Homecoming Coordinating Committee.
