Eckerd College is currently hiring for the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid to join our enrollment management team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community. The assistant director is primarily responsible for evaluating and awarding student financial aid according to federal, state, and institutional policy and procedure as well as advising and assisting students and families with the financial aid process.
The incumbent will possess a strong ability to communicate complex financial aid programs and processes to a diverse community with professional courtesy. The assistant director will be knowledgeable of Federal and State financial aid regulations and proactive in staying up-to-date on changes in regulations. Intermediate knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office and Student Information Systems (i.e., Banner) is needed in addition to the ability to accurately enter and validate data with attention to detail. The ability to manage confidential personal and financial information is necessary for success in this position as is the ability to exercise appropriate professional judgment, as described by federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain a strong knowledge and understanding and advise students and families on all aspects of the Federal, State and institutional financial aid application processes; satisfactory academic progress necessary to maintain eligibility to receive financial aid, and financial considerations of enrollment and retention.
Provide financial aid advising and counseling to students and parents through appointments, walk-in, phone, and email.
Monitor, approve, and revise all financial aid packaging for all qualified applicants in accordance with federal, state, institutional, and other regulations, policies and procedures.
Oversee the college withdrawal process and coordinate Federal Return of Title IV funds process
Coordinate with Global Education for study abroad scholarship processing
Complete verification on selected applications.
Maintains external agency scholarship certifying and reporting process.
Support admissions activities as they relate to student aid, including, but not limited to meeting with students and families at Admission events on campus and making presentations at high school nights, open houses, admissions programs, orientation, etc.
Serve on teams and committees as needed to fulfill the goals of the College.
Assume primary point of contact in office in the Director's absence.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related work experience, preferably in a Financial Aid office. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of forms with a diverse audience.
Ability to perform work outside normal business hours during peak times.
