POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Assistant Director will administer financial aid for undergraduate and graduate programs of study. The assistant director will serve as a financial aid advisor to the university and is instrumental in the recruitment of prospective students for all academic programs offered by the university. This position interacts with parents, students, and university officials as a representative of the financial aid office, treating them equally, without regard to race, religion, age, sex, color, disability, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin.

CONTACTS
Department: Continuous contact with departmental staff to collaborate on special projects and meet daily needs of the office.
University: Frequent contact with graduate and professional school personnel to collaborate on projects and in relation to the specific needs of students.
External: Regular contact with state and federal agencies, scholarship and foundation organizations, and financial aid professional organizations to exchange information.
Students: Regular contact with current and prospective students in relation to financial aid.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
No direct supervision. Indirect supervision relating to the special project as assigned by the director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 3 to 5 years in financial aid administration, or related experience at a college or university required.
Education/Licensing: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Must demonstrate a customer service orientation and ability to collaborate with students, parents, staff, and outside organizations.
Strong written and oral communication skills required. Must be able to interpret and explain university policies to students and parents.
Fluency in a second language such as Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, and/or Telugu preferred.
Strong aptitude to work as part of a team required.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Individual must be mature, professional, and discreet.
Ability to operate with a high level of awareness for protective sensitive and confidential information.
Ability to identify exceptions to normal policies and practices.
Ability to develop, enhance, and nurture relationships with prospective and current students and their families while providing consistent, accurate, and usable information.
Creativity and energy highly valued.
Proficient with personal computer office applications, e-mail, and internet.
Ability to learn software applications specific to admissions and enrollment management, as well as customer service and customer relations management applications.
Familiarity with financial aid software packages preferred.
Ability to meet consistent attendance.
Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors and customers face to face.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General office environment. This office emphasized the maintenance of security and confidentiality of all records.
Work in a high pressure environment. Students and their families demand immediate response and a high level of service. This position requires the individual to meet constant deadlines.
Some overtime (including weekends) may be required. This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work arrangements.
Hybrid Eligibility
This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
