Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Development for the UGA Franklin College of Arts & Sciences reports directly to the Senior Director of Development and is responsible for fundraising; donor programming and events; and external partner communication and support as related to the School of Computing and Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI). This individual coordinates, cultivates, solicits, stewards, and supports a wide range of programs and services to attract, retain and enhance professional relationships with new and existing industry and alumni partners. This includes supporting and promoting employer activities such as on-campus recruiting, career fairs, information sessions, and classroom presentations, as well as soliciting major gifts of $25,000+ to support the students, faculty and staff of these two programs. The incumbent will conduct face-to-face alumni, donor and industry meetings on and off-campus and work with both the College of Engineering and the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences development teams to amplify annual and major gift fundraising efforts.

FUNDRAISING

Work strategically with the directors of both the School of Computing and the Institute for AI to cultivate and build relationships with current and prospective donors such as alumni, corporations, businesses or other large entities through formal meetings, targeted C-Suite meetings, hosting on campus for comprehensive visits and eventually solicit donations or sponsorship dollars for support. Work to build partnerships with these entities and the School of Computing and/or Institute for AI for talent/recruitment of our students/alumni, research and project-based collaboration and philanthropic partnerships.

Develop strategies for and ensure robust communication with corporations, businesses, or government entities to encourage new and increased financial support while building a continuous donor pipeline for leadership and major gift contributions. Some of these are expected to enhance experiential learning priorities, such as sponsored capstone and master's projects, treks, clinics, and student consulting. Focus of support includes developing an annual giving corporate partnership program as well as project-research based support, and major gift contributions of $25,000+. Conduct an annually established goal of face-to-face meetings with donors and prospects, while helping to prepare meetings and proposal materials for the Directors of both areas as needed and coordinating with the Office of Business Engagement as relevant. Record all donor and corporate interactions and visits in the DAR database (GAIL) in a thorough and timely manner.

EVENTS & PROGRAMMING

Manage and develop corporate and employer events and programs (on-campus visits, employer of the day, information sessions, classroom presentations, provide support for sponsored experiential learning projects, etc.). Assist with planning and implementing all donor and alumni engagement events (ex: annual tailgate, off campus speakers, networking events, etc.). Maintain a budget for programs and analyze financial information (e.g. revenues, expenditures) to ensure all operations are within budget. Coordinate with Career Services and the Office of Business Engagement as relevant.

LIASION DUTIES

Work in collaboration with the Franklin College Sr. Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Relations to develop and oversee annual solicitations ( direct mail/ phone/ email) for both the School of Computing and the Institute for AI.

Prepare solicitations and content in partnership with both area directors as well as special fundraising projects specific to area needs. Liaise with the Office of Business Engagement to further strengthen development efforts within these portfolios as well as with the College of Engineering development team. Attend regular Franklin and Engineering team meetings, DAR division meetings, and any other needed unit-based meetings as necessary.

STEWARDSHIP & BOARD RELATIONS

Work with Franklin College Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations and College of Engineering development team to develop a comprehensive stewardship program for donors to both the School of Computing and Institute for AI. Collaborate to ensure robust donor and partner communication (newsletters, social media, annual report) and assist with acknowledgments of all gifts and plan stewardship donor interactions as needed.

Assist directors of both the School of Computing and Institute for AI with board development, hosting and solicitation. Manage board engagement to maximize and steward each board members' participation and giving in both areas.
