Job Description:

Binghamton University's Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Division of Physical Therapy located at the newly renovated, state-of-the art health sciences campus in Johnson City, New York, is hiring for its Physical Therapy program and invites applicants for the Assistant Director of Clinical Education faculty position. This is a full-time, open-rank, 12-month position with rank and salary commensurate with credentials and experience.

Responsibilities include:

Collaborate with the DCE to achieve the following:

  • Administer, monitor, and refine the clinical education components, including Integrated Clinical Experiences (ICE), of the DPT curriculum consistent with the mission of the Division of Physical Therapy and the Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

  • Ensure seamless integration of the clinical education component of the curriculum with the didactic component to ensure attainment of highest-level learning outcomes for our students and graduates.

  • Maintain quality clinical learning experiences for students in both integrated clinical experiences and full-time clinical education by developing strong clinical partnerships and continually recruiting new clinical education partners across a variety of patient populations and practice settings.

  • Assess students' performance and progression toward outcomes to ensure clinical readiness and for progression through the DPT curriculum.

  • Ensure that the clinical education component of the curriculum maintains compliance with CAPTE, federal/state regulations, institutional policy, and practice-setting policy.

  • Develop and maintain assessment of the outcomes of the clinical education component of the DPT curriculum. This includes but is not limited to the effectiveness and appropriateness of clinical education sites, and ensure that individual clinical instructors and site clinical coordinators of education maintain contemporary expertise and effective teaching practices.

  • Travel to support the Clinical Education program will be required. Required travel is reimbursable by the university.

The candidate will be assigned courses based on area of expertise, contribute to advising and mentoring students, and engage in Program and University committees as appropriate.

Faculty rank and salary are dependent upon the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • EDUCATION: Minimum of a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) or Academic Doctorate from an appropriately accredited university is required.
  • LICENSE: License or eligibility for licensure in any US state or territory
  • SCHOLARSHIP: Candidates must demonstrate the potential to engage in scholarship/research in a self-selected area
  • CLINICAL TEACHING: A minimum of one year experience as a clinical instructor including the formal assessment of student performance in clinical settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LICENSE: License or eligibility for licensure in New York State
  • CLINICAL EXPERTISE: Ideal candidates have advanced knowledge and skills in a specific clinical content area as demonstrated through possession of or progression toward certifications such as ABPTS or equivalent.
  • SCHOLARSHIP: Candidates have experience in peer-reviewed dissemination of scholarly work.
  • CLINICAL TEACHING: Experience as a site coordinator of clinical education is preferred.
