POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director of Childcare Services STATUS: 260 Day Contract FLSA STATUS:

Exempt REPORTS TO: Director of Childcare Services POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Childcare Services will assist the Director with the administration of District-provided childcare services including Building Blocks, and Character Kids Club (CKC) programs to maximize and support the success and academic achievement of students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist the Director in coordinating and overseeing all planned programs and additional outreach programs including, but not limited to, Building Blocks and Character Kids Club (CKC). Assist in the management and direction of day-to-day operations of the multiple-site Building Blocks and CKC Programs. Develop and implement new community education programs and expand and/or eliminate existing programs based upon their financial viability and the benefits of the services offered to the community.

Work with district parents and staff to provide the best childcare services possible. Perform personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, record maintenance, etc.) of childcare services staff for the purposes of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel, and achieving objectives within budget. Substitute at Building Blocks and Character Kids Club (CKC) locations as needed.

Assist the Director with the creation and implementation of full day care programs during the school year and summer programs during June and July. Attend recruiting events as needed.

Assist with the coordination of and participate in all trainings, meetings and events associated with childcare services programs, along with district-wide committees and activities.

Represent the district at area/regional conferences as needed.

Assist with the facilitation of training for all childcare services program staff. Ensure appropriate staff development opportunities are provided.

Maintain communication with building administration where Building Blocks and CKC staff are assigned. Comply with district policies and procedures and all state and federal mandates. Work to ensure that District staff understand and abide by the same guidelines.

Assist with research and pursuing of appropriate grant money. Assist with overseeing the maintenance of all records for the state and district including, but not limited to, verification of DESE mandated records, DVN contracts, food and beverage permits, staff records, Missouri Professional Development accuracy of all staff, and the DESE Subsidy Provider Landing for all registered DVNs. Assist with the preparing of reports, records, child care rosters, registration forms, lists and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the program's administration.

Assist with the ordering of supplies and materials. Coordinate with outside agencies to enable additional community resources for our program participants. Assist with the observation and evaluation of staff.

Assist with the development, implementation, communication and dissemination of information to parents and staff related to the childcare services programs including, but not limited to, calendars, policies, and events to foster positive community awareness of all available programs. Develop and implement internal and external marketing strategies to recruit families to programs using a variety of methods. Assist with the responsibility for developing and executing child care services program budgets.

Assist with monitoring all daily operations regarding revenue and expenditures. Network with other agencies to enhance various components of the childcare services programs. Serve as a liaison to other early childhood programs in the area including preschools and daycares.

Attend Board of Education meetings as required. Perform other tasks as assigned ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to visit program locations as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities Ability to work and communicate effectively and positively, both orally and in writing, with staff, colleagues, supervisors, various clients and stakeholders.

Demonstrate a calm demeanor for handling stressful situations. Ability to effectively resolve conflict between various stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and needs.

Ability to accomplish tasks that are often interrupted by persons with special and/or immediate needs.

Ability to read, analyze, and determine an appropriate course of action based on various types of written and verbal information. Excellent problem-solving, management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively and efficiently manage and prioritize projects, create and adhere to timelines, follow through on tasks, and meet deadlines.

Ability to exercise sound judgment on sensitive issues. Ability to drive to and/or from in-district and out-of-district locations as required. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Experience successfully assisting with implementing and managing community-based programs. Two or more years of supervisory experience. Effective human relation skills.

Excellent organizational skills.

Excellent communication skills, written and oral. Degree in related field preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work setting involves performance in an environment with various levels of staff to supervise and the accomplishment of tasks that are often interrupted by persons with special and/or immediate needs. The employee must be able to regularly work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and utilize manual dexterity. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception.
