About the job:

In this role, the incumbent will provide assistance to the Director of Case Management and oversight of the casework department as required for the operations of Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center. To ensure appropriate casework services are provided to foster an opportunity for habilitation to juvenile offenders.

Core responsibilities include and are not limited to: monitors the case management process to ensure compliance with classification, early release, and special placement program guidelines, Screen cases at intake for intra-facility transfers and community placements; follows up to ensure that decisions are acted upon according to the time frames set during the intake screening process, monitors to ensure that behavioral programs are implemented in accordance with approved guideline, and conducts file audits at least quarterly to ensure compliance with department standards.

Selected applicants for this position are subject to a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen.

Must complete Department of Juvenile Justice's mandated training and certifications.

As a requirement for employment, the chosen candidate for this position must be able to commit to an initial basic skills training, which is a three-week academy held at the Virginia Public Safety Training Center in Hanover, Virginia. The training program will consist of classroom academic instruction, skill-based classes, practical application, and scenario-based sessions. The basic skills training is typically scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Minimum Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of treatment and management of services in a residential setting. Considerable knowledge of planning and implementing client resource services.

Knowledge of the juvenile justice system. Skills in supervising counselor supervisors and counselors, providing a full range of services to adolescents and direct employees in treatment activities. Operate and maintain an effective treatment program. Develop and interpret agency policies and regulations and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
