As the Assistant Director of Career Readiness, you will play a pivotal role in shaping career readiness programs and initiatives aimed at elevating students' preparedness for the ever-evolving job market. You will collaborate closely with faculty and University Career Center teams to design and implement initiatives that enhance students' career readiness. This position will also assist in delivering innovative Career Education courses. This role requires a dynamic individual with a passion for career development, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The Assistant Director of Career Readiness is a part of the Career Development Team and reports directly to the Associate Director. This position is responsible for overseeing professional staff dedicated to facilitating career readiness initiatives. It is imperative that this position demonstrates strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. In addition to utilizing excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in related field and three years of work experience in a career center or similar environment OR Master's degree in a related field and one year of work experience in a career center or similar environment, preferably within a university setting; knowledge of employment processes (i.e. recruiting/hiring, training, performance management, etc.).

Preferred Education and Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with a master's degree in student Affairs, Higher Education, program management, or closely related discipline. Direct Career Services and career advising experience, as well as experience in teaching and program development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with faculty and UCC staff to integrate career readiness and NACE competencies into curriculum and programs, ensuring that students receive comprehensive preparation for the workforce.

  • Utilize innovative teaching methods and be the point of contact for Career Education courses ensuring NACE competencies are a center focus to enhance the development of students.

  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in career development, employment, and higher education, and incorporate this knowledge into program planning and delivery.

  • Supervise the Special Programs Coordinator for Career Readiness to ensure a collaborative effort to achieve departmental goals.

  • Ensure all areas within the department are consistently supporting Career Readiness in all activities and initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Career Consultants and the Associate Director on programming/programs related to Career Readiness and NACE Competencies.

  • Develop and implement presentations for faculty training on career readiness initiatives and support programs such as the Career Champions program and micro-credentialing.

  • Responsible for creating and implementing data collection strategies and tools related to measuring career readiness outcomes.

  • Provide individual career coaching services to students and alumni in all aspects of the career development process, as needed and determined by the Associate Director of Career Development.

  • Periodically engage in activities beyond the regular office hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, to accommodate presentations and events. Flexibility regarding evenings and weekends might be required based on the demands of the situation.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Remote Work Statement

After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
