Job Summary

The Office of Annual Giving at Oberlin College and Conservatory seeks applications for the position of Assistant Director of Annual Giving. This is a full-time, 12-month Administrative and Professional Staff position in the Division of Advancement, reporting to the Director of Annual Giving.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving provides important programmatic support and project management for the annual giving team. The Assistant Director leads and initiates projects related to campus partner fundraising campaigns, student philanthropy, and young alumni giving in support of the initiatives and goals of the Division of Advancement.

Essential Job Functions

  • In conjunction with the Director of Annual Giving and annual giving team members, support a College-wide annual plan for direct mail, email, telephone, text, and crowdfunding solicitation programs within the context of the overall annual giving goal.

  • Work with fundraising partners across campus to execute annual giving campaigns focused on their specific areas.

  • Create and execute special fundraising initiatives in support of campus partners as needed.

  • Develop email solicitations to serve as follow up for the annual giving direct mail campaigns managed by the Associate Director of Annual Giving.

  • Implement a strategy to educate students and create awareness about the importance of philanthropy while building a senior gift program.

  • Oversee an annual giving plan designed to increase philanthropy among young alumni through digital, direct mail, phone, text, and social media with a focus on donor participation goals. Ensure appropriate stewardship for young alumni.

  • Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activity and share progress with the director in order to achieve revenue goals.

  • Provide assistance to the director for the planning and execution of large annual giving campaigns such as the annual day of giving.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and assist with special events, including giving days, class reunions, and others as needed.

  • Undertake special projects and duties as directed.

Marginal Job Functions Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and one semester of student work experience, or relevant work experience in advancement, marketing, communications, or a related field.

  • The ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities and complex projects simultaneously.

  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and with others within the Advancement division and across campus.

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write and edit solicitation and cultivation materials, business correspondence, and reports.

  • Ability to analyze and summarize data, recognize patterns and significant data points, and make recommendations based on the information.

Desired Qualifications

● Knowledge of Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge NXT or other relational databases.

● Experience with EMMA Marketing or a similar broadcast email application.

● Proficiency with the Google suite of applications.
