Assistant Director Of Alumni Engagement

Transylvania University, a private liberal arts college, seeks an experienced, collaborative, and strategic leader to serve as its next Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement. Located in the heart of downtown Lexington, Kentucky, Transylvania University features a personalized approach to undergraduate education through 46 liberal arts majors. Founded in 1780, it is the 16th oldest institution of higher learning in the country with approximately 1,000 students.

The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement assists with developing and implementing a comprehensive alumni engagement program designed to provide meaningful opportunities for personal connections, volunteerism, events and programs. Working with the Director of Alumni Engagement, the position will enhance dedication and support for Transylvania University through leading in-person and virtual regional and affinity group activities as well as Reunion class gift and event programming. The position is responsible for overseeing office alumni and donor engagement social media accounts as well as young alumni and student programming including the Transylvania Young Alumni Council. Overall, the Assistant Director promotes lifelong interactions between Transylvania University alumni and their alma mater to benefit both individuals and the institution.

A Bachelor's Degree is required. Experience in the field of alumni relations, events planning or fundraising is preferred.

Essential Duties:

• Develop and facilitate regional and alumni affinity groups to accelerate engagement and University interaction. Recruit and utilize volunteer groups to assist with alumni and donor cultivation. Develop structure and schedule of these groups and event processes.

• Facilitate planning and promotion of additional alumni events as prioritized by the Director of Alumni Engagement and Vice President for Advancement.

• Coordinate and lead the Transylvania University Young Alumni Council, ensuring their productive purpose, meetings, activities and donor participation.

• Coordinate and lead the Student Alumni Ambassador group. Recruit membership and officers. Set goals and activities related to facilitating alumni and donor engagement, as well as donor stewardship.

• Develop messaging for Transylvania's alumni and donor engagement social mecia accounts, posting priority items multiple times each week across platforms. Develop a schedule of positng timelines and themes throughout the year. Determine ways to make posts interactive with alumni and donors.

• With the Director of Alumni Engagement, handle shared planning and execution of Reunion class-specific events and mailings. This includes scheduling and helping the Director of Annual Giving Operations and Director of Alumni Engagement with production of initial classmate emails for saving-the-date, volunteering and Reunion Class Gift efforts.

• Coordinate electronic communiocation about Alumni Weekend and regional/affinity events.

• Track and prepare the alumni class notes for the Transylvania magazine.

• Assist the Director of Alumni Engagement in developing and maintaining the Alumni online community.

Secondary Duties:

• Work to improve young alumni and student donor participation.

• Assist with event logistics for Alumni Weekend

• Provide staff support for University events and activities.

• Perform other duties that may be assigned or required.
