Title: Assistant Director of Admissions and Diversity Recruitment

Unit: MCCC Grade 6, Admissions Coordinator

Department: Admissions

Reports to: Assistant Dean of Admissions

Date: June 21, 2024

General Summary: As a member of the Admissions Department, this creative and knowledgeable individual will assist in the planning, development and implementation of the college-wide recruitment and admissions programs. This individual will also actively contribute to the activities of the department that promote a commitment to access and student success for our diverse student body. In addition, this individual will develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies for under-represented populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of targeted recruitment activities for prospective students, with a focus on BIPOC, adult learners, and other special populations.

  • Market the college in accordance with the annual, college-wide recruitment plan.

  • Collaborate with Admissions staff in recruitment and retention activities of students from under-represented populations.

  • Assists the Admissions staff in ensuring that college-wide recruitment events include activities designed to attract a diverse population.

  • Organizes and participates in on and off campus recruitment activities; coordinates special recruitment activities/programs.

  • Works on the further development of an inclusive and comprehensive outreach program based in DEIB for a diverse applicant population.

  • Support the data collection and submission of credit Certificate and Associate degree programs to the Training Pro website for unemployment benefit approval and advise prospective students on training opportunities.

  • Work collaboratively with a defined set of academic program coordinators to plan and implement targeted recruitment activities for individual academic programs as well as for special populations, programs or events.

  • Evaluates applications of prospective students for selective health programs.

  • Work collaboratively to develop and implement admission policy and standards.

  • Use available technology such as SCT Banner, Target X CRM/Salesforce, Argos and Helio campus reporting tools for the analysis of and outreach to prospective students.

  • Assist with the review of Multiple Measures and Guided Self Placement assessment for new students as needed to support the Student Assessment Center and advise students on placement procedures.

  • Work as a part of an Enrollment Services team to provide excellent enrollment services to students.

  • Provide accurate and timely information regarding the college's enrollment process to prospective students, their families and the local community.

  • Participate in one or more college advisory boards, including but not limited to those relative to programs within assigned division or programs.

  • Lead K-12 recruitment initiatives and activities at assigned feeder high schools and community organizations.

  • Recruit prospective students by representing the college at primary, secondary and alternative schools, college nights, career fairs, businesses, community events, etc. both on and off-campus. This will include conducting campus tours.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, Liberal Arts, or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training involving college admissions, transfer credit evaluation, or academic counseling/advisement; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Ability to inform and guide others by applying principles of professional counseling in addressing specific situations.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, customer service, written communication and verbal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Team player who can also work independently.

  • Ability to evaluate, audit, deduce, and/or assess data using established criteria.

  • Availability to work days, evenings & occasional weekends.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Ability to speak comfortably with large and small groups; demonstrated effective presentation skills to a variety of audiences.

  • Problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to change.

  • Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria

  • A clear understanding of DEIB initiatives as relates to community college student populations

  • Experience with equity-minded work and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, veterans, and individuals with different academic preparation levels and varying physical and learning abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills a plus.

  • Experience working in an Admissions Office in a community college and/or 4-year public institution.

  • Experience with SCT Banner or related software, appointment scheduling software, communications technologies such as degree auditing software.

  • Experience utilizing SIS Banner and the CRM (Target X) to help track and outreach students through the recruitment and application stages

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $70,120 is the starting salary for a Grade 6 position with a Master's degree; actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience. Location: Bedford campus with occasional travel to Lowell as needed

Hours: 37.5 per week, schedule to be determined upon hire. This position will be eligible for a maximum of two days of telework in accordance with the College's telework policy.
