Essential Duties

1.Develops, implements and manages a variety of programs that provides support to, develop community among, and ensure the best possible experience for Yale students. 2. Works closely with student affairs staff throughout the university to ensure programs meet the specific needs of students. 3.

Regularly assesses and identifies needs of the students and scholar community; develops programs and resources to support these needs. 4. Promotes student development through individual advising, outreach, resources, and information sessions. 5. Develops and ensures adherence to protocol for promoting and publicizing activities and programs. 6.

Directs and supervises a team of fulltime staff; trains and supervises staff. 7. Serves as back-up for in-take interviews with new students and scholars, offers information and answers questions about Yale and New Haven. 8. Participates fully in and contributes to office projects, including development and maintenance of website, departmental meetings, including weekly staff meetings. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Minimum requirement of Bachelor's Degree in related field and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Focus:

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of the Career Development Office (CDO) and working closely with the Director of Judicial Clerkships and Director of Public Interest, the Assistant Director is involved in all aspects of the judicial clerkship and YLS fellowship hiring processes for Yale Law School students and alumni with a particular focus on resource development and data analytics. Develops and enhances all judicial clerkship and YLS fellowship resources.

Counsels students and alumni seeking clerkships and YLS fellowships from point of application to onboarding. Serves as project leader managing the collection, maintenance, and analysis of current and historic data on judicial clerkships and YLS fellowships, involving extensive communication with YLS alumni and the development of systems and protocols for data maintenance and reporting to the Dean, faculty and other constituents. Manages direct communication with alumni, judicial chambers, and fellowship host organizations to obtain and report accurate and timely information on clerkship and fellowship hiring.

Manages Student Services Coordinator in coordinating 50+ programs annually to educate students about judicial clerkship and YLS fellowship opportunities. In addition, the Assistant Director works with the Director of Recruitment and Administration in managing office projects, with a particular focus on gathering and reporting student summer and post-graduate employment information within the YLS community and to external reporting organizations including the ABA and NALP.

Develop and update resources; gather, analyze and report historical and current data; and guide 140 student and alumni clerkship candidates in using resources to support their application processes. This involves overseeing and providing strategic guidance for the maintenance and enhancement of the Clerkship Sharepoint Site and several CRM databases, conducting student and alumni surveys, and creating reports and resources to share with student, staff, and faculty stakeholders including the Faculty Clerkship Committee.

Develop and update resources; gather, analyze and report historical and current data; and guide 50 student and alumni fellowship candidates in using resources to support their application processes. This involves managing the Yale Law fellowship application process from point of application to onboarding new fellows to their host organizations, overseeing and providing strategic guidance for the Common Fellowship Application Platform and all of CDO's fellowship resources, and communicating and coordinating efforts with the Yale Office of Fellowship Programs, YLS Faculty Committees and Centers overseeing fellowships, and the YLS Business Office.

With the Director of Recruitment and Administration, assist in the oversight of office projects with a focus on utilizing technology to increase efficiency, accuracy, and presentation; and assist with gathering and reporting summer and post-graduate employment information with an emphasis on judicial clerkship and fellowship employment. This work involves significant interaction with students and recent alumni and employers to verify data in accordance with ABA and NALP Protocols.

Manages CDO's Student Services Coordinator in facilitating CDO's annual educational student programs.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

J.D. plus one or more years of experience in law-related position(s) OR Bachelor's degree plus three or more years of experience in student services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience with databases (Salesforce), survey tools (Qualtrics), and spreadsheets (Excel) software. Proven experience with Yale University financial systems.
