Description

Do you have experience leading substance use prevention, treatment or recovery support programs? If so, our Assistant Director II role may be the perfect fit for you! We are looking for an Assistant Director II to join our team in the Division of Substance Use Disorder. We oversee federal and state funding to support the delivery of substance use prevention, treatment and recovery services statewide.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee development of program contracts and contract modifications, support timely and standardized contract and procurement activities. Monitor contract expenditures to ensure accurate and timely spending of substance use-related funding. Approve timesheets, leave requests and conduct performance appraisals.

  • Support development and management of grant applications, biennium and annual budgets, the annual Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) Plan & Budget Process, and annual Block Grant Applications in collaboration with Division leadership and staff. Funds awarded or alotted will support the provision and enhancement of substance use prevention, treatment and recovery programming.

  • Oversee and support implementation of substance use prevention, treatment and recovery-related grant activities through the provision of technical assistance, review of programmatic data and relevant literature, and in close collaboration with Department staff, state leadership and community partners.

  • Facilitate and coordinate standard processes, policies and procedures that support Division of Substance Use Disorder operations. Including facilitation of the annual legislative review process.

  • Represent the Director, Division and Department at community, state, and national-level meetings, workgroups and conferences related to the prevention and treatment of, and recovery from substance use disorder.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Experience leading Substance Use Disorder prevention, treatment and/or recovery programs or services.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Organizational skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach and lead staff as a team player.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of administrative or management experience, two of which must include direct supervision of personnel.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
