Responsibilities

The Assistant Director

  • Human Resources is responsible for aligning territorial HR objectives with employees and management in all Ray & Joan Kroc Centers in the Central Territory.

The Kroc Centers aim to provide programs and activities for the community to help them grow in their artistic skills, ignite a passion for health and sports, walk with them in their spiritual journey and provide the means and space for seniors and families to come along and enjoy themselves in a friendly environment. Within the Central Territory there are 6 Kroc Centers: Chicago, Quincy, South Bend, Grand Rapids, Green Bay and Omaha.

KROC Centers (45%):

  • Act as an internal consultant by analyzing employment related issues within the Kroc Centers and recommending solutions.

  • Analyze Kroc Center employee turnover statistics; conduct employee opinion surveys; make recommendations and implement solutions to lower turnover and enhance employee morale.

  • Standardize Kroc HR processes, standard operating procedures, organizational charts and employee reward programs; adapt training programs for Kroc Center specific needs.

  • Ensure that Kroc Centers are in compliance with territorial and divisional policies and procedures and with any relevant federal, state or local legislation. Review materials for and participate in onsite Kroc Standards Reviews.

  • Assist Kroc personnel with consistent recruitment procedures with the territorial onboarding system. Assist with THQ (Territorial Headquarters) and CFOT (College for Officers Training) recruitment activity as requested.

  • Develop and establish consistent Kroc Center base pay structures, compensation plans and pay rates. Utilize geographic differentials as necessary. Evaluate the feasibility of variable pay structures that incentivize employees to achieve business goals in event rentals, membership sales, membership development, etc.

  • Work with Kroc Center HR Representatives, Divisional HR, the Territorial Legal Department and THQ HR Department to address and resolve complex employee relations and performance issues.

  • Standardize job descriptions and assist supervisors with the development and revision of job descriptions.

Compensation (20%):

  • Plan, develop and implement compensation programs for divisions upon invitation; analyze job functions and organizational structure in order to develop job classifications; research and select appropriate market data, evaluate jobs and develop salary structures; assist HR staff in ensuring that positions are properly classified and assigned a salary range; assist in developing cost analysis for implementing new salary ranges and provide recommendations for salary adjustments when needed.

  • Maintain annual schedule for completion of external compensation, benefits and other HR related surveys; complete surveys per the schedule.

Training (10%):

  • Work with other HR staff to evaluate training needs and develop/identify training programs for managers and employees across the territory utilizing current technologies.

  • Develop systems to measure effectiveness of training.

Human Capital Management System (10%):

  • Build and maintain awareness of the functionality and reporting capabilities of the HRIS.

  • Assist in maintaining HR practitioner security profiles and necessary system/reporting updates across the territory.

Qualifications

Education & Certification:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field.

Experience:

  • Five years of experience performing progressively responsible work in an HR Generalist role

  • At least 2 years' experience in the area of compensation development and administration utilizing market data

  • Supervisory experience; this position supervises one direct report

Travel:

Overnight travel throughout the central territory approximately six times per year and to conferences up to two times per year.

Responsibilities The Territorial Director of Planned Giving will be responsible for: * Plan, develop, and provide leadership and support for all phases of an effective planned giving program within the divisions of the Central Territory; Serve as a liaison and oversight capacity between the territorial headquarters and the divisional planned giving staff. * Work to achieve continually higher standards and best practices and production * Serve as a technical, marketing, and operational specialist to the field * Codifies policies and procedures working with key internal and external stakeholders (territorial, divisional, local, national), including officer leaders, development professionals, leadership volunteers and professional consultants * Be responsible for assuring that The Salvation Army fulfills its legal and fiduciary responsibilities in connection with planned giving agreements under its administration. * Monitor the ongoing efforts of the divisional planned giving staff (to include progress against annual plan, dollar production, and activity) and provide reports to territorial administration on the overall progress of the program. * Assist in the recruitment and selection of divisional planned giving staff including personal interviews of finalist candidates and testing that may be appropriate. * Maintain a level of professional knowledge in planned giving, asset transfers, planned giving instruments, estate and financial planning, legal and tax developments, state and federal laws and regulations applicable to these areas to provide for advising divisions and assuring that the Salvation Army's program remains in compliance. * Coordinate relationships with the territorial finance department, legal department, and investments to assure the smooth movement of documents and information related to gift processing, completed gifts and donor needs. * Serve as planned giving's liaison with specialized, outside legal counsel for planned giving. * Evaluate options for management, tax service, and investment of various life income arrangements recommending the best services for the program. Review the performance in-house or through outside vendors of such services. Recommend investment goals and asset allocation models for such arrangements. * Work cooperatively with other development functions to promote positive integration of efforts within the disciplines. Participate as assigned in projects requiring interdepartmental cooperation at territorial headquarters. * Carry out assigned roles in data management and system upgrades. * Maintain a planned giving resource library available through digital and electronic media. * Please submit resume and a cover letter for consideration* Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree required preferably in Economics, Business, Marketing, or Law Experience: * Ten or more years of experience in planned giving with a documented track record of success. * Success in securing gifts at a six figure or higher level. * Experience in face to face fundraising and planned gift administration. * Successful management and supervisory experience along with mentoring junior professional staff. Certifications: Professional licensing in law or accounting; certifications in planned giving preferred.
