The Assistant Director will work closely with the School ofLiberal Arts Office of Research and Graduate Programs team by supporting theday-to-day management of our graduate programs and research administration.Working closely with the Associate Dean, the Assistant Director will helpdevelop and expand 4+1 and MA programs, and work directly with students,faculty, and staff across SLA and the broader Tulane campus to support andimprove the graduate student experience from application to graduation. The AssistantDirector will also support the overall research mission of SLA by assistingwith internal funding notifications and reporting, as well as monthly andannual reporting on external funding.

  • Strong verbal and writtencommunication skills in an academic and/or business setting - abilityto communicate and be comfortable with a variety of individuals ranging fromundergraduate students to senior administration

  • Demonstrated experience in proof reading andediting

  • Strong organization skills and the ability to work independentlyin administrating multiple projects, compiling reports

  • Demonstratedsuccess in working with diverse population

  • Proficiencyin the use of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, and

Adobe applications (Acrobat)

  • Abilityto show a high level of attention to detail and be highly organized

  • Ability to handleconfidential materials requiring a high level of discretion

  • Excellenttime-management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multipleand competing demands effectively

  • Abilityto solve complex problems in a demanding environment

  • Experience with, or ability to acquire high proficiency in,multiple data management systems (e.g., Cayuse Research platform; Banner,SLATE) and teach these systems to a variety of users

  • Knowledge of, or willingness to quickly learn, Tulane Universitypolicies and procedures, including those related to grants, contracts, and graduateprograms

  • Knowledge of budgetary processes and reports

  • Bachelor'sdegree

  • Experienceworking with senior administrators and professionals whose interests andexpertise span the social sciences, creative arts, and humanities

  • Graduatedegree

  • Priorwork experience at an institute of higher education

  • Experiencewith databases, budgeting, and reporting tools

  • Event planning and coordination experience

  • Experience working with graduate students fromapplication through graduation processes (e.g., enrollments, funding packages,graduation requirements)
