Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Residential Operations, the Assistant Director is responsible for providing supervision and management for multiple areas of university housing, supervision of undergraduate and graduate student staff, along with coordination for early arrival, winter and spring break periods.

You will:

  • Recruit, train, hire, supervise, and evaluate professional Area Coordinators, Graduate Assistant positions, Resident Assistants, and the Senior Office Assistant

  • Be responsible for hiring and distributing student desk staff through the Federal Work Study program

  • Manage all facets of the Break Stay Housing Processes (Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer Break)

  • Manage the Conflict Support and Room Change Process for current and new students

  • Maintain key inventory with assistance from the Central Office Graduate Assistant

  • Be responsible for the operations of the Central Office Front Desk, including managing response to emails in the Office of Residential Lifes email account

  • Facilitate damage and lost key billing with assistance from the Central Office Graduate Assistant

  • Address, resolve, and escalate student, parent, and family concerns pertaining to the programs/services

  • Adjudicate cases related to student misconduct as a Conduct Hearing Officer

  • Participate in the Administrator on Call rotation and responds to emergency incidents as needed

  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Residential Operations to plan, market, and implement the annual housing selection process

  • Access and update student information in Starrez, using the system to document customer interactions while maintaining the confidentiality of student records protected by FERPA

  • Provide technical oversight and troubleshoots user issues and concerns related to staff and student interaction with the Starrez and myHousing systems

  • Participate in campus wide and departmental committees standing member of the Residential Operations Committee

  • Participate in campus wide events related to admissions, orientation, opening and closing campus

You need:

  • Bachelors degree required, masters degree preferred

  • Two years of professional residential experience preferred

  • Two- three years' prior work experience in housing operations

  • Strong attention to detail and proven problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with Starrez housing management software and Maxient conduct management software strongly preferred

  • Proficiency with Structured Query Language preferred

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word, Internet research/social media

  • A valid Drivers License

  • To submit proof or being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (including booster, if eligible)
