The Assistant Director for Recruiting collaborates with the Assistant Dean in managing the Law School admissions process. This position requires computer and scheduling skills; attention to detail; excellent communication skills in both group and individual settings and the ability to market and promote the law school by traveling extensively to local, regional and national recruiting events; developing relationships with undergraduate prelaw advisors. In coordination with the Assistant Dean, this position will review applications, render decisions and follow-through with communications.
Note: This position may be structured as either a 12 or 9 month benefits eligible position. If taken as a 9 month position, the employment period will be September May.
Specific dates will be identified in the offer letter. Individual will pre-pay health benefits and then be on leave with benefits for the time outside of the contract period.
Recruiting (30%): Represent the law school at recruitment events, such as LSAC Forums, law school and graduate school fairs and career fairs, throughout the region and country. Coordinate visits to undergraduate institutions including classroom and prelaw student group presentations.
Develop relationships with pre-law advisors at undergraduate colleges and universities and organize and coordinate on-campus visits by prospective law students. Develop and conduct presentations to assist in educating prospective law students on law school and the admissions process.
Counsel prospective law students about the admissions process and admissions requirements. Provide information on first-year curriculum, certificate programs, joint degree programs and all other law school programs.
Application Review (25%): Assist with the review of all applications, including file review and contact with admitted students. Conduct initial review of application, including character & fitness and other review.
Assess academic strength and other qualifiers for admission. With attention to detail, track and record decision making.
Admissions Committee Coordinator (10%): Coordinate admissions committee activity including interview scheduling and data tracking. As member of Admissions Committee, participate in meetings and interviews.
Admitted Students Relationship Building (25%):Develop relationships with admitted students to provide information and experiences that highlight positive reasons to attend KU Law. Facilitate contacts with current students and KU Law alumni.
Other duties (10%): Other duties may include event planning, diversity pipeline programs and other duties as needed and assigned.

2.Excellent writing skills as demonstrated by application materials

4.Experience working in a law school and/or university environment, or experience as a practicing attorney or legal professional.

7.Ability to multi-task and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
8.Ability to relate to students with diverse backgrounds and credentials

11. Ability to make professional presentations, serve on panels and promote the school in various settings
12. Ability to train and supervise student workers and a variety of volunteers regarding law school programs and policies
13. Excellent judgment, creativity and problem solving skills
14. Excellent computer and database skills
