Position Summary:

The Assistant Director for Accommodations Testing, and Tutoring will work as a professional team member to manage a comprehensive ADA Accommodations, peer tutoring, and testing program which serves all students at Adams State University. The position supports the retention and graduation of students through tutoring, testing, placement, and accommodations services. The position is an exempt (at-will) appointment. The Assistant Director for Testing, Tutoring, and Accommodations reports to the Director of the Student Success Center.

Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities)

  • Serve as the campus ADA accommodations person for both undergraduate and graduate accommodations

  • Meeting with students who need accommodations, evaluate their documentation, and issue reasonable accommodations for that student.

  • Issue accommodations letters on behalf of students to appropriate faculty every semester

  • Supervise the Tutoring and Outreach Coordinator and work study students in the Grizzly Testing and Learning Center

  • Offer training to faculty and staff on ADA accommodations as needed

  • Serves as a liaison with school directors, academic department chairs and faculty

  • Assesses effectiveness of GTLC department, including but not limited to testing, tutoring, and accommodations

  • Responsible for maintaining academic integrity for academic services

  • Collaborate with Computing Services to maintain all monitoring software

  • Annual review of policies and procedures for the GTLC department

  • Supervise, administer, and proctor various assessments on campus and provide interpretations and guidance where appropriate (Including EPE, MFT, accommodations exams, make up exams, CAAP, CPCE, LASSI and others as needed)

  • Coordinate brailing for students with visual impairments and use, manage, and implementation of embosser

  • Coordinate note taking for students with disabilities or other accommodations

  • Manage GTLC, Accommodations and Tutoring budgets.

  • Explore new technologies, such as AI, to help provide accessibility services

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

● Bachelor's Degree

● Experience working with diverse student populations

● Experience working with various types of students or learning support services

● Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

● Strong technology skills

● Ability to analyze and manage data

● Strong organizational skills, including multitasking

● Experience planning and implementing programs and services

● Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as needed

● Knowledge of ADA accommodations

● Supervisory experience

● Budget experience

Preferred Qualifications:

● Master's degree in Special Education, Higher Education, Counseling or other related field

● Experience working in Higher Education

● Experience with assessment, including data collection and analysis

● Experience with assistive technology

● Bilingual (Spanish)

Salary:

The expected salary is $51,132 to $58,164 commensurate with education and experience.
