Berry College's Office of Accessibility Resources seeks an Assistant Director who will be a highly motivated, detail-oriented, organized individual who is attentive to the needs of students with differences and disabilities, energized by helping others, a determined problem-solver, and an effective communicator who works well within a team and independently. This is an 11-month position.

Reporting to the Associate Director for Accessibility Resources, the Assistant Director will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of academic, dining, and housing accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and its amendments, Resolution 504, and the Fair Housing Act. The Assistant Director will provide direct student support that includes meeting with students for academic, dining, and housing accommodation intake meetings, review of medical, psychological, or other disability related documentation, identifying appropriate reasonable accommodations, and communicating approved accommodations to faculty; overseeing the operation of the testing center, including the coordination, proctoring, and delivery of exams; training, mentoring, and supervising student employees in the Office of Accessibility Resources and the Academic Success Center; and maintain accurate student records and small-scale information management via our Student Accommodation Manager portal. The Assistant Director will also lead intentional follow-up efforts with student clients and assist the Associate Director with the development of policies and procedures.

This position requires a commitment to working collaboratively with faculty and staff to serve students. This person will also work closely and collaboratively with The Academic Success Center, The Office of Residence Life, the Offices of Financial Aid and Student Accounts, and others.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree by May 2024 or currently in the final stages of completion.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of coursework in Psychology, Education, or a related field.

  • Knowledge surrounding best practices related to disability services in Higher Education.
