What's the role?

Come play a key role in increasing the size and productivity of the distribution system by partnering with leaders across the company and especially the Distribution function to design and implement advisor and distribution leadership compensation, bonuses, benefits and recognition programs that attract and retain key distribution talent as well as support the corporate strategy. The successful individual will work with leaders to evaluate and recommend innovative changes to programs and offerings while ensuring the total package supports the strategy while remaining compliant and competitive. The individual will do this by accounting for various perspectives and building financial models to assess the economic impact for various constituents. This individual will participate in the Field Rewards leadership team as well as work with a small team of consultants to develop the Field Rewards' point of view and may manage a small team. The individual will participate in evolving the infrastructure of the division to meet the needs of the organization. Specific outcomes of work include alignment and awareness cross-functionally with respect to compensation, benefit, and recognition design; recommendations for compensation, benefit, and recognition programs after assessing various perspectives; and points of view developed, documented, and shared. Specific efforts this individual could support include new structures designed to increase the distribution size, compensation for entities and teams, investment product grid development, non-product specific compensation programs, medical benefits, updating of bonus thresholds, recognition, and retirement benefits.

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, accounting or actuarial science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; MBA preferred.

  • Eight years progressively responsible work experiences required focusing on issue and project leadership and financial and data analysis.

  • Three to five years experience working with NM field force preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of field operations, including NM's field compensation and contracts required

  • 10-20% of time required to travel to district and/or general agencies.

  • Proven experience in translating complex technical information required.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills along with the ability to build rapport and gain acceptance at all levels in the Home Office and field.

  • Ability to effectively influence outcomes and negotiate with key business partners.

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain cooperative and supportive relationships with the field force.

  • Strong problem solving skills required.

  • Experience using Excel or other tools required for research and analysis.

Principal Accountabilites for the role are: D&I Consulting/Coaching * Consult, coach, and provide D&I support to Field Leadership and Career Distribution (CD) Team members. * Partner closely across CD Business Partners to support the build of D&I plans for assigned Network Offices that drive YoY results. * Analyze data and highlight areas of risk and opportunity for assigned NOs, on an ongoing basis to the Head of Field D&I. * Assist Head of Field D&I with key presentations, programs, and other strategic priorities that drive inclusion and diversity across the organization. Segment Lead - Advancing women and underrepresented talent * Develop and execute the field strategy, including maturing existing practices and developing new practices and programs that continue to position the distribution system as a leader in advancing women and underrepresented communities, both internally and externally. * Partner closely and successfully with key stakeholders across the company, especially Career Distribution, to ensure the viability and long-term success of all programs and diverse talent pipeline development efforts, working across the organization to create plans, monitor progress/measure results, and adjustments as needed. Subject matter Expert - D&I education and learning * Design and facilitate education, presentations, and thought leadership pieces on D&I topics of varying levels of complexity for all levels of the Field Force. * Partner with Learning & Development as a subject matter expert to integrate D&I into existing and future company education materials. What this role needs: * Bachelors degree * Ten plus years of significant diversity and inclusion experience to include coaching of senior leadership in large organizations, building education, and subject matter expertise in recruiting and advancing women and underrepresented talent. * Ability to develop practical, systemic D&I strategies and execution plans in a variety of business environments and drive accountability for results. * Strong influencing, public speaking, facilitating, listening, and relationship management skills, along with demonstrated experience partnering across a matrixed environment. * Must demonstrate experience with driving cultural change in an organization. * Must be a senior leader who understands and appreciates that this work is both strategic and tactical and is ready to do the various types of work required to drive results.
