As delegated, manages the design, planning, construction, maintenance, and/or alteration of facilities and buildings in compliance with accreditation, code, licensing and regulatory standards by performing the following duties personally and through subordinate employees. Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.


  • Oversees all hospital Environment of Care elements to ensure full operation, compliance and reliability according to operating and regulatory standards.

  • Oversees and works with contractors on repair, installation, maintenance, and/or grounds improvements and preventative maintenance.

  • As directed, supervises crafts professionals in a wide range of specialties and expertise.

  • Ensures full compliance with Joint Commission building, fire prevention, biomedical equipment and utilities standards.

  • Inspects physical facilities, equipment, and operating procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing standards of sanitation, operation, acceptability of facilities, patient care, and record keeping.

  • Analyzes HVAC systems, computer network wiring, lighting, and other physical facilities factors.

  • Performs audits to support facility planning, maintenance and updating.

  • Reviews bids, estimates, project schedules, and deadline compliance to ensure availability as required of facilities and equipment.

  • Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.

  • Takes all steps necessary to ensure full compliance with all accrediting, licensing and regulatory authorities as it relates to facilities, equipment, and consequent medical care quality.

  • Ensures that all facilities and maintenance staff members are fully capable, highly dependable, and deliver exceptional quality outcomes to patients and community members served on a timely basis.

  • Supervises maintenance personnel and workers engaged in equipment installation, facilities equipment repair, maintenance of facilities and components, and preventive maintenance of equipment.

  • Assists with capital and operational budgeting and takes all steps necessary to ensure compliance with all such budgets.

  • Ensures timely and highly accurate documentation of all pertinent expenditures and activities as required

  • Oversees annual service contacts to ensure compliance with all contracted terms by vendors.

  • Monitors all vendor expenditures to ensure high quality outcomes at optimal and reasonable cost to the enterprise.

  • Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.

  • Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.

  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.


  • Associates Degree in Facilities Engineering or similar course of study or Certified Health Care Facilities Manager; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • 3 years applicable experience; medical environment work experience preferred.

  • Arizona Boiler Operator licensure.

  • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification

  • NFPA 99 and NFPA 101 Certifications

  • State of Arizona Driver's License with no significant violations during the last 5 years

  • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.

Enhances the customer experience and ensures compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines. Plans, develops, and implements efficient customer service strategies, policies, and procedures. Evaluates procedures based on established metrics. Partners with senior leadership to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Provides leadership for culture and community-related programs. Supervises department staff through effective planning, performance management, training, and career development. Responsibilities * Develops and manages behavioral change programs and diversity awareness training to educate employees about the culture of community and non-community members. Promotes better patient care service. * Oversees staff and department performance daily to ensure adequate staff are available to support patient needs. * Manages department operations and financials by developing annual budgets and implementing outcome measures of services, supplies, and equipment. * Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures to guide the provision of services. Establishes and employs key metrics to track customer satisfaction. * Works directly with Customer Service Supervisor, Representatives and Patient Advocates. Utilizes data to make process improvements, streamline internal communications, and ensures compliance with all regulatory mandates. * Nurtures patient, family, and community relationships to contact possible clients and gains widespread attention on the availability of patient-centered services. * Oversees and administers Patient Advocate Program in compliance with relevant regulations, including GRHC service standards, and reinforces timely resolution of each case. * Constructs volunteer guidelines and training materials to teach work ethics and responsibilities that support interpersonal needs of patients and family members. * Submits regular or ad-hoc reports to Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Office to identify areas of improvement and make recommendations in patient care, operations, personnel, and financial areas. * Participates in GRHC committees, including Compliance Executive Committee, and other relevant leadership, department, and employee groups to discuss and support organizational goals and directives. * Creates expected behaviors model that reflects appreciation of each patient and respect for patient differences. * Ensures all customer service equipment are in good working condition; including wheelchairs, ensuring patient safety. Maintains updated logs of preventive maintenance and repairs. Submits work orders to Facilities and Safety department when necessary. * Facilitates and conducts off-site presentations and lectures to non-community or GRIC entities as appropriate. * Works collaboratively with other organizational departments for training and service improvement initiatives. * Oversight and coordination of language and interpreter program organization wide. * Performs other job-related activities as requested. Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or closely related field of study required. * 5 years of experience in Customer Service; either hospital or hospitality environment. * State of AZ Driver's License with no significant violations during the last 5 years. * Current and continuing BLS training and certifications. * Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. * Gila River Indian Community member required. * Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
