The Assistant Director of Admissions Operations, reporting to the Associate Dean of Admissions, is responsible for the management of the admissions process and operations in alignment with the strategic goals of the Journalism School. The incumbent will support enrollment and admissions process management, application review and verification, student advisement, and other core functions of the admissions cycle. Analysis of applications trends and scholarship levels on applications and yields to help shape admissions and marketing strategy is a key aspect of the position.
Manage the application processing lifecycle from application review to enrollment, to support the attainment of key admission objectives. Assure consistent and reliable communications of programs, deadlines, financial aid and other pertinent information to prospects, applicants and current students.
Manage Slate database/application processing systems, scanning, data input and information tracking for use in admission and financial aid offices. Monitor applicant status and ensure that all required application documentation is received within established deadlines.
Coordinate all URL and electronic contacts with prospects. Manage applicant funnel by reaching out and encouraging prospective applicants to complete their applications. Serve as primary point of contact for admitted students post-admission and guide admitted students on the proper submission of forms and documents to ensure official enrollment. Acts as point person with prospective students and faculty.
Oversee and ensure accurate and timely issuance of all admission and financial aid letters.
Plan and manage admission reading and committee work with faculty and staff. Organize application review; establish faculty review systems and ensure timely review.
Organize and coordinate writing test, interview assignments and international transcript/test evaluations. Evaluate TOEFL/IELTS test scores.
Manage and improve existing systems to collect and analyze data to be used to inform and direct recruiting, admission, scholarship awarding, and enrollment activities. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all data related to student admissions and enrollment within all relevant application management systems.
Provide analysis of data and statistics for preparation of admissions reports and projections. Maintain accurate data on applicant status, new applications, withdrawals, scholarships, and yield. Collect admissions data and prepare reports related to class profile, student diversity, and historical trends to enrich the selection process and present to department, faculty and/or school leadership.
With the marketing function in the Admissions department, provide analysis of marketing results to determine effectiveness and inform marketing plans.
Prepare institutional research of journalism market about trends in industry and among schools. Determine new information and programming that may be useful in recruiting.
Counsel prospective students regarding admissions and financial aid in person, by telephone, email and other social/electronic media.
Travel, as needed, to recruitment events locally and nationally.
Supervise support staff, temporary employees particularly around admissions operations and analytics and work-study students.
Perform other projects and related duties. Minimum Qualifications for Grade
