Job Summary

Assistant Director for Diversity & Inclusion, is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Director and will assist with the daily operations of the Center. The Assistant Director will create and deliver opportunities to expand the cultural development and understanding of students on campus. The Assistant Director is responsible for creating, implementing, marketing, and assessing diversity program initiatives as well as developing and implementing cross-cultural programming for diverse students focused on social justice/multicultural competencies leading to increased recruitment and retention. As a member of the CDI team, the Assistant Director will also provide departmental support and guidance on effective methods for retaining and providing cultural support to historically marginalized communities on campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of issues and concerns relevant to students of color

  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures

  • Experience working with student organizations

  • Demonstrated experience planning and implementing programs/events that promote cultural awareness, cross-cultural learning, and community among multicultural students

  • Ability to form effective working relationships with individuals across lines of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, and sexual orientation

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication (both oral and written) skills

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising student organizations.

  • Experience developing and managing budgets

  • Experience with the assessment, marketing, and evaluation of programs/initiatives.
