In collaboration with the Director of Advancement Events and other Advancement staff members, contributes to Advancement's strategic and tactical development of events and programs that promote specific division objectives by engaging alumni, parents, and friends to support the priorities of Advancement and the College.

Description Required Qualifications

  • Five years of relevant experience in event management or the equivalent

  • Experience in non-profit fundraising and volunteer management, preferably in higher education

  • Demonstrated successful work experience in a large and/or complex environment where collaboration with multiple stakeholders and flexibility were essential

  • Experience working with the most senior members and clients of an organization

  • Demonstrated creative planning, organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and manage high-level internal and external constituents

  • Demonstrated mastery of logistical event management

  • Ability to be perceptive and responsive to direction set forth from Advancement leadership

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong computer skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage details on multiple events concurrently

  • Ability to work nights and weekends for event travel and oversight

Note: Employment will be contingent upon possession of a valid U.S. or Canadian driver's license and continued qualification as an Approved Driver under the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.

Key Accountabilities

Description

In collaboration with Dartmouth colleagues, plans, and manages digital, hybrid and in-person high-profile events that accomplish specific Advancement objectives while maintaining high levels of attention to detail, accuracy, sensitivity, with a continuous focus on the purpose of those activities. Effectively manages internal and external stakeholders in a rapidly changing environment and provides appropriate follow up during the planning process. Participates in the development and execution of a departmental operating plan and individual event plan. Manages daily event operations while working autonomously and as part of multiple teams. Effectively and efficiently uses word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs in daily operations to perform individual tasks, track and assess Advancement work, and streamline operations whenever possible. Utilizes new products and technology for all event types while also determining best utilization of existing online event systems. Gathers, organizes, implements, and presents event-related data. Participates in and implements ways to improve established best practices for event planning and execution. Develops effective working relationships, systems, and processes in support of the department and individual activities and responsibilities. Communicates and collaborates with a range of offices on campus to meet Advancement objectives through Advancement Events programming and planning. As appropriate, works directly with alumni (event hosts, event participants, and other donors).

Percentage Of Time 35% Description

Manages all aspects of digital, hybrid, and on-site event flow while professionally representing the College to alumni, parents, volunteers, prospects, and donors. Assists in researching and determining preferred event dates for the Advancement events calendar. Independently maintains responsibility for the comprehensive planning and execution of specific alumni and donor-focused events, and other events as determined by senior staff, continually providing the Director updates on the status of events and any potential issues. Oversees and manages event related costs and completes post-event data summaries. Engages the College's senior officers in Advancement programming. Trains and mentors other event-planning staff while acting as a central source of support and information regarding the best practices of the Advancement Events division.

Percentage Of Time 30% Description

For onsite events, leads the effort on organizing event logistics such as venue arrangements, catering, communications collateral, program speaker's needs, and AV. travels to perform site visits for onsite events, meets with volunteers and donors, staffs and executes Advancement events and activities.

Percentage Of Time 25% Description

No Position Purpose Reporting to the Director of Stewardship, the Assistant Director of Stewardship leads our stewardship communications efforts with vibrant and captivating content that engages and inspires our donors. The successful candidate has the demonstrated ability to write compelling copy on a variety of topics such as the significant research, clinical care, and educational initiatives at Dartmouth Health, its member institutions, and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College while also managing the programmatic and strategic oversight of our stewardship communications efforts for donors at all levels across multiple interconnected institutions and voices. Evaluate progress against metrics and make strategy changes as needed.
