Job Summary
The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an Assistant Director for Communications. In this role, you will help with communication projects for the college, developing and executing high-level communications to advance the mission and strategic goals of the college inclusive of its academic departments and the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital and Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. This position is responsible for designing and producing a wide-variety of marketing and communication materials including print, digital, web, social media, email,newsletters, photography, videography and more. You will assist in content development and copy editing and help in working with the media and assisting with media coverage. In addition, you will be responsible for providing oversight and guidance to ensure the college's compliance with Purdue brand standards while also fostering collaboration across college departments and units as well as campus as a whole to increase awareness of the college and elevate the college's reputation in alignment with the university's branding objectives. You will serve as the primary back-up to the director of public affairs and communications, and as supervisor to the communications interns.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelors degree in Communications and/or Marketing or closely related field
4 years of related experience
Excellent writing skills; graphic design and layout skills; interpersonal communication skills
Ability to manage projects and production schedules, solve problems and meet deadlines
Must be highly organized with good attention to detail, excellent proofreading skills, and advanced computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft and Adobe Creative programs and mass email platforms
Ability to handle and protect sensitive and/or confidential documents and information
A portfolio of writing/graphic design samples will be required at interview
