Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director, Alumni Engagement

The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement at Florida Atlantic University Schmidt College of Medicine is a pivotal role, responsible for crafting and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance relationships with a diverse alumni base spanning MD, Graduate Programs, GME, and Medical Postbac. Working in close consultation with the Director of Communications, the Assistant Director will collaborate effectively across multiple departments within the College to ensure a cohesive alumni relations approach. In this role, the Assistant Director will manage and refine key programs that are instrumental in building strong, enduring connections with alumni.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Program Development and Coordination:

  • Alumni Relations Programs: Design and manage a variety of alumni relations programs to enhance alumni engagement. This includes conceptualizing new initiatives and refining existing ones to align with alumni needs.

  • Future Alumni Program Oversight: Lead the Future Alumni Program, integrating alumni engagement strategies into the experience of current learners across all programs, ensuring early cultivation of future alumni relationships.

  • Alumni Mentoring Program Expansion: Strategically grow the Alumni Mentoring Program, focusing on creating meaningful connections across a diverse range of alumni and student groups. This involves matching mentors with mentees effectively and monitoring the success of these relationships.

  • COM Legacy Alumni Council Management: Establish and lead the COM Legacy Alumni Council, representing a wide spectrum of alumni. Responsible for establishing council activities, ensuring their alignment with broader alumni engagement goals.

Event Planning and Management:

  • Alumni Events Organization: Conceptualize, plan, and execute major alumni events, including annual reunions, mentorship weeks, and the Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony, ensuring each event is memorable and impactful.

  • Alumni Participation at College Events: Facilitate alumni involvement in key college events such as COM Research Day, enhancing alumni presence and engagement within the college community.

Alumni Network Development:

  • Network Strengthening: Build and nurture a vibrant alumni network, fostering connections among alumni, current learners, faculty, and staff.

  • Alumni and Volunteer Cultivation: Actively identify and engage alumni for volunteer roles, focusing on leadership development and community building within the alumni network.

Communications and Marketing:

  • Strategic Communication Plans: Develop and execute targeted communication and marketing strategies to reach alumni effectively, including crafting engaging newsletters, email campaigns, and managing social media outreach.

  • Faculty-to-Alumni Email Strategy: Implement and manage a regular email communication program from faculty to alumni, highlighting recent developments, achievements, and opportunities at the college.

  • Newsletter Development: Oversee the creation of a monthly alumni newsletter, curating content that includes faculty highlights, alumni success stories, and interactive segments.

Alumni Database and Digital Presence Management:

  • Yearly Alumni Survey Administration: Conduct the annual alumni survey to collect feedback and insights.

  • Database Oversight: Ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the alumni database in collaboration with institutional advancement and alumni teams.

  • Digital Content Management: Manage and update the digital presence of the alumni network, including website content and social media platforms, ensuring engaging and current information is always available.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Engagement Analysis: Monitor and analyze data related to alumni engagement, utilizing insights to refine strategies and enhance program effectiveness.

  • Reporting and Evaluation: Regularly produce detailed reports and analyses to evaluate the success of alumni programs and events, providing recommendations for future improvements.

Community Engagement and Liaison:

  • Community Liaison: Serve as the key liaison between the college, alumni, and the wider community, enhancing alumni involvement in various educational, community, and fundraising activities.

  • College Representation: Act as a representative of the College at various community and business functions, promoting alumni programs and strengthening community ties.

Professional Development and Networking Initiatives:

  • Webinar and Event Coordination: Organize webinars and networking events tailored to alumni professional development, encouraging active participation and continuous learning.

  • Collaborative Project Engagement: Involve alumni in meaningful projects including research initiatives, community service, and mentorship programs, fostering a collaborative spirit.

Alumni Giving and Fundraising Strategy:

  • Fundraising Initiatives: Collaborate with the Development Office to craft and implement strategies for alumni giving, focusing on donor retention and acquisition.

  • Fundraising Campaign Management: Lead and execute various fundraising campaigns, aligning them with the interests and capabilities of the alumni network.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two (2) years of appropriate experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with demonstrated experience in engagement, event planning, or relationship management is preferred.

Experience in alumni relations or student affairs, event planning, or related field, preferably within an academic or healthcare setting.

Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.

Proficiency in digital communication tools, social media platforms, and database management.

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES OR ABILITIES:

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including faculty, alumni, and learners.

Creative and strategic thinking with a focus on innovation in alumni engagement.

Salary:

$65,000 - $75,000 per year
