Summary

The Primary purpose of the Assistant Dietary Manager is to support the Dietary Manager in managing the daily responsibilities of the Dining Services Department in accordance with regulatory guidelines and company policy. The Assistant Dietary Manager will also assist with supervising the work and schedules of staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Dietary Department, its programs and activities in the absence of the Dietary Manager.

• Interpret the department's policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary under the direction of the Dietary Manager.

• Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc., to assure control of equipment and supplies.

• Review department job descriptions at least annually for revisions, and make recommendations to the Dietitian and/or Administrator and Dietary Manager.

• Keep abreast of economic conditions/situations and recommend to the Dietitian and/or Administrator adjustments in dietary services that assure the continued ability to provide dietary services.

• Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Dietitian and/or Administrator as necessary/required concerning the operation of the Dietary Department.

• Submit accident/incident reports to the Human Resources Department within twenty-four (24) hours after their occurrence.

• Assume administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of supervising the Dietary Department under the direction of the Dietary Manager.

• Review and assist in developing a plan of correction for dietary services deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such to the Administrator.

• Process diet changes and new diets as received from nursing services.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Successful completion or current enrollment in course approved by the Dietary Managers Association.

• Prefer one year supervised food service experience in an institutional setting focusing on planning, preparing and servicing regular and therapeutic diets.
