The primary function of the Design department is to sketch designs, select materials, and have a part in the production of our merchandise. Our design team contributes to the creation of an extensive array of clothing and accessories purchased by Claire's and Icing consumers on a yearly basis.

Responsibilities

  • Support Designer to execute and implement seasonal design concepts from conception to first prototype

  • Communicate with sourcing office and vendors about product requirements

  • Communicate with design team, manager, and VP as needed.

  • Prepare spec packages and line sheets in timely fashion and distro to company

  • Assist in all aspects of daily follow up with buying depts. and vendors

  • Participate in research and development of seasonal trends

  • Meet all calendar deadlines

  • Organize presentation boards and assist in the preparation of meetings

  • Sketch designs in Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications + Experience

  • 1-2 year's experience in accessory design preferred

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferrably in fashion/design

  • Past experience working with overseas factories a plus

  • Demonstrate expert usage of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (CS6)

  • 3-D design experience a plus

  • Print design experience a plus

  • Ability to hand and flat sketch essential

  • Strong organizational skills required

  • Able to work in a collaborative environment

  • Must have the ability to multitask

  • Strong verbal, oral and written communication skills
