The Springfield City School District is seeking an Assistant Custodian to provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment for our students and staff.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
Ensuring cleanliness of classrooms, offices, hallways, and steps and recycles materials according to the recycling program
Cleans restrooms and locker rooms daily and replenishes supplies
Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to facilities and custodial equipment including groundskeeping equipment
Sets up and takes down special equipment for assemblies, special programs and other activities
Operates necessary equipment to promote a clean, safe, and healthy environment
Assists in the cafeteria during lunch, and assists in cleaning the kitchen
Guards property against fire, theft, and illegal entry and obeys all safety regulations at all times
Provides security for buildings by attending to the physical plant during open hours and secures all doors, windows, and restricted areas during closed hours and responds to Sonitrol calls in the absence of the Head Custodian
Closes the building by shutting off all lights, locking all doors and windows, and unlocks doors as required
Performs a variety of tasks to the grounds surrounding the building including mowing, trimming shrubbery, removing snow and ice, picking up and emptying receptacles, etc.
Lifts and moves equipment, furniture, supplies, or materials (e.g., weight up to 80 lbs, and distances up to 50 yards)
Assistant custodians work 260 days per year, 8 hours per day.
Snyder Park/ Snowhill split position Monday
Friday Snyder Park (Elementary) - 3:00 p.m.
7:00 p.m. (or as assigned)
Snowhill (Elementary) - 8:00 p.m.
Salary is based on the SEUSS negotiated agreement starting at $15.49/hr.
Springfield City Schools
