This position is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, coordinating, and scheduling a variety of cultural arts events and programming for the Cultural Arts Center as well as overseeing Service Aides and performing duties to maintain the facility. This position reports directly to the Cultural Events Specialist.

This position is classified as a non-exempt, full-time position with a 40 hour work-week.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assists in providing oversight and direction for the daily operations of the Cultural Arts Center which includes but is not limited to the main art space, multipurpose rooms, private yard, roof terrace, and adjacent park areas.

  • Assists in scheduling and managing art exhibits, space rentals, programming, and special events.

  • Provides information and assistance to outside agencies, producers, residents, and artists that inquire about events, usage, or rental of the Doral Cultural Arts Center for private or public activities.

  • Assists in ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the Cultural Arts Center.

  • Assists in preparing schedules and work assignments for part-time employees (Service Aides).

  • Assists in researching grants opportunities for the Doral Cultural Arts Center.

  • Assists with the supervision, training, evaluation, and discipline of part-time employees and volunteers.

  • Assists with the recommendation and development of  operating procedures for facility functions.

  • Assists in inspections of the Cultural Arts Center and park to ensure the safety of the public and facilities. Identifies, repairs, and prevents possible safety hazards or causes of injury.

  • Plans, organizes, and assists administering cultural and recreational programming when needed.

  • Supports operations by handling telephone inquiries, greeting visitors, and providing information.

  • Enforces safety and other facility rules and regulations; administers first aid as required.

  • Performs general maintenance and clean up duties at the Cultural Arts Center which includes, but not limited to, storing art supplies, emptying of trash receptacles, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, wiping down tables, chairs and other furnishings, replenishing toilet paper and hand towels, and cleaning concession area, restrooms, and fields.

  • Performs other duties as required and assigned by the Cultural events specialist.

  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.

  • One (1) year of related experience required.

  • One (1) year of supervisory experience is preferred.

  • Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment typically used in recreational work and clean up duties.

  • Knowledge of basic rules of safety and ability to enforce applicable rules and regulations.

  • Skill in customer service and be able to establish good customer relations.

  • Ability to deal with people effectively, courteously and enthusiastically.

  • Ability to accept, receive and/or collect payments.

  • Ability to prepare and/or process purchase orders.

  • Ability to be held accountable for inventory/property management.

  • Ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.

  • Ability to use computers for data entry.

  • Ability to use computers for word processing and/or accounting purposes.

  • Ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools.

  • Ability to use or repair medium equipment and machinery, such as vehicles or commercial mowers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must have the ability to balance, crouch, finger, grasp, handle, hear, kneel, lift/push/pull objects, reach, express ideas through speaking, stand, talk, use mental/visual faculties, walk, and hear sound.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily in an indoor environment, with some work taking place outdoors.
