Position Title: Assistant Counselor (Christ-Centered Program)

Department: Counseling

Reports To: Program Director

Supervises: NA

Entry Level Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED required. Undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science, C.A.C. preferred; 1 year experience in alcohol/drug treatment with direct patient contact required (preferably in a Christ-centered environment). Candidates must possess the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a basic understanding of the principles of chemical dependency recovery. Maintain records and have good communication skills.
1.Must be able to walk within the facility and on the grounds of the facility for approximately 1 mile per every 8 hour shift.
2.Must be able to continuously sit for approximately 3 hours per 8 hour shift.
3.Must be able to administer CPR and be certified.
6.Must be able to see and hear constantly.
7.Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations.
8.If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence.

General Responsibilities:

Assistant counselors are team members in the Family, Continuing Care, Intensive Stabilization Program, Outpatient, and Counseling departments of the treatment facility. In all instances, the assistant counselor will interact with the patient in accordance with established treatment procedures for a faith-based program. Be able to articulate a Christian philosophy of recovery consistent with the Scriptures and show the value of an interfaith recovery program; facilitate patient orientation and goal attainment; and write timely, appropriate, meaningful documentation.

Essential Functions:
1.Assist Nurse and Primary Counselor in completion of patient assessments, including intake and intervention as needed.
2.In the absence of a primary counselor, assist in the management of that primary counselor's caseload, along with the assigned coverage counselor.
3.Assist the counselor as assigned, and engage in appropriate documentation.
4.Assist the counselor in implementing, teaching recovery principles, and in developing and evaluating treatment plans.
5.Possess a strong Christian testimony and model the qualities of a caring and nurturing servant leader.
6.Responsible for completion of, and adherence to, all applicable policies and procedures.
7.Demonstrates the ability to direct patients in completion of treatment objectives.
8.Demonstrates the ability to assist patients in overcoming their denial and resistance to treatment.
9.Demonstrates the ability to manage the therapeutic milieu and report any untoward events to the correct department director.
10. Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner.
11. Must be able work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients, and prospective clients.
12. Regular attendance.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Must be able to bend and stoop from a standing position to the floor. 4. Must be able to stand continuously in increments of 45 minutes to 1 hour. 5. Must have valid State Driver's License and a safe driving record. 6. Must be able to physically assist a disoriented or intoxicated a patient of average weight of 140 to 170 lbs from the floor to a chair or bed. 7. Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations. 8. If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence. General Responsibilities: The P.A. will assist in the overall care and supervision of the patients. The P.A. will function in a professional manner and evidence a positive attitude in all aspects of work. The performance of all duties will be consistent with Bradford philosophy, enhance the therapeutic environment and protect the confidentiality of all patients. Know and abide by the general provisions of 42 CFR Part 2, "Confidentiality of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Patient Records", and 45 CFR "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act." This position has restricted access to patient health information. Essential Functions: 1. Be aware of where patients are at all times, circulating around the facility on a regular basis. 2. Assist nurse (when needed) with admitting procedures for new patients. 3. Assure that all patients follow the Bradford Program Schedule and are on time for each assignment. 4. Demonstrate the ability to communicate and relate to patients clearly and effectively. 5. Keep in close contact with Clinical Team. 6. Report any infractions of policy to the Supervisor.
