Job Summary

Responsible for administering the overall accounting policies of the Company. Oversees and participates in the following functions: accounting, tax, and financial reporting. Designs and coordinates a wide variety of accounting and statistical data and reports. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Manages the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

MAIN POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Departments include general accounting, financial reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and coordination of federal and state taxes with third party provider.

  • Manage the financial closing process, including analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial results; maintenance of the general ledger and supporting records

  • Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (P&L, Balance Sheet, stockholders equity and statement of cash flows).

  • Research and coordinate the implementation of the latest FASB standards.

  • Responsible for reviewing account reconciliations, ensuring all account reconciliations have been timely completed and reviewed.

  • Preparation of quarterly financial ratios and assistance with debt compliance.

  • Supervises the completion of state tax reporting requirements with regard to sales, use and property taxes.

  • Coordinates work relating to external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records and timely delivery of Audit PBCs. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings.

  • Assist with preparation of quarterly Audit Committee communications.

  • Manages the charts of account for the JD Edwards general ledger system and the Hyperion Essbase reporting system. Provides recommendations for improvements to the chart of accounts and use of accounts.

  • Ensures that the accounting department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities, noted above.

  • Responsible for continued development of staff.

  • Review and develop GAAP accounting policies.

  • Oversee tax planning and compliance activities.

  • Promote a pro-active perspective within the organization by identifying problematic situations before they occur.

EMPLOYEE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, MBA/MAcc Preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software products.

  • CPA designation preferred, but must at least have sufficient educational requirements to sit for CPA.

  • Understanding and application of GAAP in the preparation of external financial statements and accounting for non-recurring transactions is a must.

  • Candidates must possess a minimum of 6 years business experience in public accounting or a combination of public accounting and industry experience.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Experience with Oracle/E1/JD Edwards ERP system a real plus

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

  • Supervisory experience required.

  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment and must possess superior analytical skills.

  • Possess integrity, solid judgment and business acumen, ability to play a significant role in the business.

  • Ability to drive organizational and culture change.
