HIM Coordinator Assistant

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is a 537- bed (including 100 nursing home beds) teaching hospital and a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island. The HIM Coordinator Assistantserves as resource in the coordination of specialized financial and productivity reports, data collection as well as maintenance of administrative files.Gather UDS and STAR required information to generate management reports.Assists in generating check requests, purchase requisitions, and database reports.

Responsibilities:

Ensures all requests for specific data reports are processed.

Record productivity data received from coders utilizing excel for coding vendors and GSH staff; record productivity data and results of PI studies performed relating to clerical staff.

Assist with creation of new or modified forms/graphics.

Assist with reports reflecting all statistical data, on a weekly, and monthly basis to track volume, staffing absences, etc. for immediate availability should HIM be called upon for data.

Interaction with CDI dept. reviewing and recording all diagnostic queries.

Complete CDI return changes in 3M CRS

Review and assignment of accounts to coders

Review of accounts for operative reports or any other incomplete documentation prior to reassigning the accounts back to the coders.

Release of information for Congenital Malformation Registry accounts.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree related field

Typing 30 wpm.Knowledge of Outlook, advanced Excel, Microsoft office including Microsoft Access, Word. A computer/typing test will be administered to all applicants.

Knowledge of 3M CRS software programs helpful

Knowledge of UDS data system preferred

Previous experience in health-related field, preferably health information management.

Excellent communication and organizational skills
