Additional information about the Department of Resident Life is available at www.reslife.umd.edu.
General Description of Duties
The Assistant Coordinator of Administrative Operations is a full-time, exempt position which assumes responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of two to five 24-hour service desks in the residence halls, supervision of two to five Customer Service Supervisors (CSS, undergraduate student supervisors), and other Administrative Operations functions on behalf of residents and the Department of Resident Life. The Assistant Coordinator of Administrative Operations is responsible for the hiring, training, and evaluation activities of up to 70 Community Assistants (CA, undergraduate student staff members) who work at the service desks.
This position provides leadership and support to Administrative Operations projects such as room damage inspections and billing, accurate key records, and between term room transitions. The Assistant Coordinator serves as a liaison to other units within the Department of Resident Life and the Division of Student Affairs.
Conditions of Employment
This is a full-time, exempt position. At times nature of the position necessitates unpredictable workweeks with some weeks requiring more than 40 hours.
Some evening and weekend work is required on a variable basis. Because the residence hall service desks are a 24-hour operation, the Assistant Coordinator for Administrative Operations may receive phone calls outside of typical business hours on a minimal basis.
