Co-operative Education Coordinators work with students, academic faculty members and employers to promote the integration of experiential learning with the liberal learning and discipline-based components of both undergraduate and graduate students education. The coordinator will also work with employers to develop jobs commensurate with student interests and abilities.

This is a full-time, non-tenure track co-op faculty position working with students majoring in the social sciences in the College of Social Science and Humanities in the specific discipline of political science as well as masters students seeking coop experiences. The coordinator is expected to: develop partnerships with employers by working with executive, supervisory and human resources contacts; develop new and maintain ongoing co-op positions and make appropriate referrals to other co-op coordinators with regard to co-op positions; maintain understanding of industry/field, employers, and positions; communicate co-op activity by maintaining accurate records in the co-op database.

The coordinator will prepare students for the co-op assignment through teaching a co-op prep class and in individual meetings, maintain contact with students during their co-op assignment to maintain connection with the University, and engage in reflection activities with students upon return to the University to reflect upon their co-op experience, enhance it and integrate it with their academic work. The coordinator also collaborates with College academic faculty, administration and other co-op coordinators to help students integrate their co-op and academic education, and share knowledge of industry with academic faculty members to integrate experiential learning with curriculum-based learning. Coordinators work with other co-op coordinators to create a deep reservoir of quality co-op experiences by performing annual reviews of jobs, leveling all co-op positions and conducting annual site visits and job development with employers, with an emphasis on out of state and international employers. Attend group meetings and serve on committees to ensure collaboration and coordination in support of University and College co-op goals, objectives and policies, and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsible for guiding the Hospital's designated outpatient (OP) coding and reimbursement practices. Develops appropriate guidelines regarding OP coding, responds to bill edit and other reports resulting in accurate APC/APG assignment. Enforces correct application of Official Coding Rules and Regulations and follows appropriate guidelines. The Outpatient Coding Manager represents the Outpatient Coding Department at clinical meetings when requested to serve as a resource for outpatient coding guidelines and interpretation. Also educates outpatient coding staff, performs data quality reviews, and supports quality of documentation to ensure compliance with various regulations. The Outpatient Coding Manager is responsible for coding and other external coding reviews and denial requests related to outpatient coding. * Work requires a Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field or equivalent experience. * CCS or CCS-P credential required. Additional RHIA or RHIT credential is a plus * Minimum of five years acute care hospital experience coding with ICD-9-CM and CPT-4, academic medical setting or trauma center preferred. Minimum of three years management experience preferred * Must possess extensive knowledge of hospital outpatient reimbursement methodologies. * Work requires in-depth knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 Coding conventions and knowledge APC/APG assignment. Work also requires basic concepts of human anatomy, physiology and pathology. * Strong knowledge of health records, computer systems, Microsoft applications, data integrity, and processing techniques required. * Ability to mentor, guide and motivate direct reports through demonstration of best practices and leading by example. * Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task, prioritize essential tasks, follow-through and meet timelines. * Ability to solve problems appropriately using job knowledge and current policies/procedures. * Ability to maintain and enforce strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information and ensure compliance of HIPAA rules and regulations.
