A dynamic, rapidly-growing team at Robert Half Management Resources is looking for a skilled Assistant Controller to join their business efforts. If you consider yourself a self-starter with technical skills and an interest in analytics, then you may blossom in this Assistant Controller role. This Assistant Controller role is a short term temporary employment opportunity located in the Long Beach area, California. Key responsibilities

  • Play an active role in the development of the accounting team, including the staffing, performance management, and training of team members

  • Assume leadership over external financial audits, providing efficient coordination

  • Uphold policies for reporting and accounting

  • Handle treasury function to ensure vendors are paid timely and cash forecasts are accurate

  • On a monthly basis, handle financial executive package and control book, ensuring it includes budget to actual comparisons by department

  • Efficiently maintain and prepare reconciliations/analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts Other responsibilities may include participation in special projects, system improvements or impromptu analyses/projects as assigned Complete financial statements and closes on a month-end, quarter-end, and year-end basis

  • Provide support to the Company through external reporting and technical accounting GAAP mentorship

Requirements

  • Strong technical background in public accounting (GAAP)

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company

  • Relevant industry experience (preferred) - Bachelor degree in Accounting

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Capacity to anticipate needs and pre-plan work

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks to prioritize needs and expedite tasks upon request

  • Relevant industry experience

  • Possess strong Microsoft Excel skills

  • SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus

  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

  • Sage 100 experience preferred

  • Solid understanding of inventory analysis

  • Proficiency in account reconciliation

  • High attention to detail and possess excellent organizational and writing skills

  • Vow to meet business deadlines
