Robert Half Management Resources is seeking a talented Assistant Controller to join a dynamic and fast-growing team. If you are a self-starter with a passion for analytics and strong technical skills, then you may prosper in this Assistant Controller position. This Assistant Controller role is a short term temporary employment opportunity located in Atlanta, Georgia. Your responsibilities

  • Provide technical accounting GAAP mentorship, external reporting and support to the Company

  • Supervise and drive external financial audits

  • Maintain accounting and reporting policies Complete the close on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis, as well as financial statements Other responsibilities may include participation in special projects, system improvements or impromptu analyses/projects as assigned

  • Handle monthly financial executive package and control book to include budget to actual comparisons by department

  • Oversee treasure functions to ensure timely payment for vendors and maintain accuracy of cash forecasts

  • Assist in the staffing, performance management, and training of the accounting team

  • Supply external monthly and quarterly reporting packages to Board meeting decks

  • Prepare and maintain account reconciliations/analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts

Requirements

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

  • Relevant industry experience (preferred)

  • Associable industry experience

  • Year end closings experience desired

  • Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills

  • Ability to multitask efficiently and prioritize work

  • Forward thinking mentality, ability to anticipate needs and pre-plan work

  • Possess strong Microsoft Excel skills

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting

  • Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

Responsibilities Primary Responsibility: Successfully support Corporate Controller in leading the General Ledger department, setting expectations, challenging and developing team, analyzing and explaining results, maintaining a well controlled environment and reporting financial statements and disclosures in accordance with GAAP. Essential Functions: * Responsible for overall aspects of accounting functions; including general ledger, sub-ledgers, month / quarter / year-end close, fixed assets, and internal controls processes and applications.• Ensure compliance with all General Ledger related SOX controls.• Coordinate month-end close with countries, sites, and internal departments.• Key contact for external auditors and deliverables coordination.• Monthly reporting for all significant judgments and estimates.• Preparation of executive level presentations.• Ownership of accounting policy, procedures and internal controls.• Ensures that financial and accounting records are prepared, maintained, and reported in accordance with GAAP and applicable governmental regulations.• Recruit, hire, train, coach and retain staff. Ensure compliance with employment laws.• Monitor, evaluate and influence progress toward departmental goals.• Research and draft technical memoranda to present a strategy on proposed transactions or on new accounting pronouncements that may impact the company.• Assist in the preparation of the annual budgets and forecasts.• Strategically partner with other departments to meet company objectives, develop company controls and control costs.• Review and approve journal entries, analysis and reconciliations.• Provide on-boarding training to various positions throughout the organization as it relates to Accounting matters.• Oversee ASC 842 adoption and SAP Nakisa implementation.• Manage IT systems upgrades/enhancements as it relates to accounting systems, including creating and performing test scripts.• Other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications & Experience: * Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance is required• CPA required• 3+ years Big 4 or top tier national accounting experience required• 7-10 years of related accounting experience and managing departmental goals• Thorough understanding of GAAP and SOX requirements• Strong computer skills required.
