Are you looking for an Assistant Controller position in which you will thrive? Robert Half Management Resources is looking for a highly-skilled Assistant Controller to join a dynamic, fast-growing non-profit organization. Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this Assistant Controller position is a long term temporary employment opportunity. There is a job opening for self-starters who combine a real passion for analytics with strong technical skills. Responsibilities

  • Uphold policies for reporting and accounting Complete financial statements and closes on a month-end, quarter-end, and year-end basis

  • Supervise financial executive package and control book on a monthly basis to include budget to actual comparisons by department

  • Supply external monthly and quarterly reporting packages to Board meeting decks

  • Conduct treasury functions to ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner and cash forecasts are accurate

  • Play an active role in the development of the accounting team by assisting in staffing, performance management, and training This position may also require participation in impromptu analyses/projects, system improvements, and special projects as assigned

  • Provide support to the Company through external reporting and technical accounting GAAP mentorship

  • Guide and manage external financial audits

  • Efficiently maintain and prepare reconciliations/analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts

Requirements

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Proven knowledge of account reconciliation

  • Workflow processes experience

  • Proficiency in financial statement preparation

  • Month end closings experience

  • Financial reconciliation experience preferred

  • Bank reconciliations experience

  • Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Associated industry experience

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • Awareness of upcoming tasks, ability to anticipate needs and pre-plan work

  • SOX internal control assessments (Section 404) experience

  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting

  • Relevant industry experience (preferred)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)

  • Strong technical background in public accounting (GAAP)

  • Possess strong Microsoft Excel skills

Responsibilities: * Own and lead all external reporting efforts and processes culminating in Form 10-K and Form 10-Q. * Own, lead and build the infrastructure to support a sustainable global close and consolidation process. * Own and lead the global S-Ox compliance program and drive it to become sustainable and value-added. * Own the interpretation and global implementation of new and evolving accounting topics. * Facilitate and orchestrate internal and external audit activities to ease the burden on the business. * Lead Disclosure Committee, which meets quarterly with Executive Leadership (including CEO and CFO) to discuss business developments and related disclosures. * Develop and mentor team members. * This role will evolve into other corporate areas such as business planning, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, treasury, acquisition due diligence and purchase accounting. Qualifications : * Bachelor's degree in accounting with CPA (MBA a plus). * Minimum 10 years progressive accounting experience. * Experience working in public accounting. * Experience working for or with global publicly traded companies. * Experience leading the preparation of Forms 10-K and 10-Q. * Experience researching and in-depth knowledge of US GAAP. * Experience working with a global ERP system (SAP preferred). * Experience working with consolidation applications such as OneStream or Hyperion HFM. * Strong communication skills and ability to present to Executive leadership. * Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop succession candidates.
