My client based in North Atlanta is looking for an Assistant Controller to help lead their accounting team. The ideal candidate will have large company accounting experience and proven management skills. The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Controller are to direct and organize all general accounting activities and accounting staff to ensure the Company's compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as contribute to a strong system of internal controls and lead the oversight and maintenance of those controls. Responsible for consolidation of financial records and submission of accurate and timely data for financial reporting purposes. Supervises a staff of 9.
Manages day-to-day operation and function of Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor, staff accountants, and AP/Expense personnel; includes team and individual development
Initiates daily communication with staff relative to accounting function
Responsible for the consolidation of monthly company financial results. Includes;
Oversight of team?s reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, monthly variance analysis, budget versus actual
Produces monthly financial reporting package
Provide key oversight of the general ledger and ensure that all reconciliations are completed timely with useful information
Maintain the general ledger including creation of appropriate journal entries
Research and document accounting activities to ensure compliance with company policy and GAAP
Perform account analysis and/or account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting, timely identification of action items
Liaise with the finance group to assist in reviewing and explanations of income statement
Working with Accounting Staff and Controller, recommends accounting policies and procedures
Prepare information in support of annual external audit, including preparation of schedules
Responsible for ensuring that an adequate internal control environment exists in all critical areas including oversight of the Company?s expenses system.
Provide ?hands-on? support to staff and proactively streamline accounting processes
Oversight and maintenance of the company?s expense system
Monitor adherence to T E policies
Participate in preparation of annual budget
Provide timely, accurate and relevant financial information to appropriate internal and external users
Prepare various financial statements and other internal or external financial reports
Team merit reviews and continuous evaluation of performance
Assist Controller with other special projects as needed
