The Assistant Controller runs the day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close. Responsible for meeting deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation and financial reporting. Responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
Responsible for all aspects of the month end close process, including preparation of financial statements
Prepare and review month end reconciliations of Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts
Maintain the financial reporting and general ledger structure
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
Manage General Ledger, AP, AR and billing teams
Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
Lead person on all Financial Statement audits
Manage day-to-day Banking transactions
Financial statement analysis comparison of actual results to prior period
Lead ERP automation projects to streamline processes in department
Support Controller and SEC Manager in SEC filings
Assist Controller on ad-hoc reporting and special projects
Respond to other department managers regarding financial results
Provide guidance to accounting staff on processes and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned or required
Build and manage a high performing team that maintains a strong "client service" focus and culture
Responsible for recruiting, interviewing and hiring qualified team resources
Identify and ensure the training and development needs of team members are met
Plan and define performance goals with senior financial management to set overall and team-level performance measures and goals
Establish collaborative relationships with internal and external clients to understand the business
Identify additional ways to be of service by ensuring timely exchange of information to promote client satisfaction
Foster a "client service" culture and instill a work ethic that includes collaboration
Bachelor's degree in Accounting -required
Minimum of 3 years leading a month end close process is required
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in California is required
Big 4 Public Accounting experience is highly preferred

Duties typically performed in an office setting
This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone and read printed material
Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings & weekends) at times
