Responsible for analyzing accounts, preparing financial statements and (on a limited basis) review and finalization of plant financial statements.
Prepare internal plant financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system. Analyze information within the financial statements and completes schedules that support account balances.
Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts; reclassifying account balances.
Prepare various expense accruals and supporting schedules. Reconcile monthly activity in fixed asset accounts and compile documents to support asset balances.
Verify lives and methods are accurate and assets are capitalized in accordance with Company capitalization policies. Support the plant management by answering accounting and financial questions with research and interpretation of data. Possibly assist in periodic physical inventories, generally involving set-up of inventory tags within the system, variance report review and posting of final physical inventory figures.
Summarization of monthly plant cycle counting results and review with plant personnel responsible for maintaining cycle counting programs. Assist with questions regarding sales/use and annual property tax returns. Responsible for ensuring material/inventory costs/values are accurate and that the system is tracking costs properly.
Analyze monthly changes in material costs and provide explanations to management. Calculation of annual labor and overhead rates, review of scrap and consumption rates for various raw material items, setup of new production routings/cost categories and review bill of material costs. Analyze proposed capital projects in order to estimate the return on investment and provide direction on where funds should be spent.
Periodic lease versus buy analysis. Periodically assist in review of customer margins and provide feedback to plant management and sales team. Work with lean team to collect project data and verify savings figures reported to stakeholders.
Assist in annual budget preparation. Analysis of monthly/quarterly variances comparing actual results to budget. Check, wire, ACH approval duties.
Consistently demonstrates leadership amongst peers and receives positive feedback from the accounting group. Reports to Group Controller and, on a limited basis, responsible for ensuring staff/senior staff accountants complete monthly plant financial statements accurately and timely. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; weekend and overnight work is also necessary.
Local travel is expected for this position.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting 5 years of professional experience in an accounting role Previous role in a cost accounting and financial close
