Assistant Controller

Life University is looking for an individual to serve in the Assistant Controller position to support our Finance Department. This accounting position coordinates daily operations and special assignments using GAAP. Responsibilities

• Works closely with Accounting Manager to coordinate daily accounting activity in the areas of payroll, accounts payable, and general accounting as needed.

• Primary administrator of the online banking function such as stop payments, wire transfers, positive pay, running daily activity reports and communicating banking information to the appropriate individuals.

• Oversees projects such as monthly and annual close out and preparation of documentation for annual audits.

• Assists Controller with all audits and ensures University compliance to federal, state and regulatory requirements and policies.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports and other related reports required.

• Assist with cash management of the federal, state and private financial aid programs.

• Perform analysis on various accounts and business activities as assigned by the Controller.

• Serves as liaison with Finance and participates as an active member of the Retirement Plan Committee

• Oversees the Payroll processing function

• Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field and a minimum of 3 -5 years experience in accounting.

• Considerable knowledge of the fund accounting principles.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with the University community.
