Assistant Controller General Accounting FT Days

Shelby Baptist Medical Center: Located in Alabaster, this facility is equipped with 252 beds and sees over 51,000 patients in the emergency department every year.

Shelby offers advanced technology resources including a 3 Tesla MRI, a robotic surgery program, and a state-of-the-art cardiology suite. Shelby offers a full range of services to meet the diverse needs of patients including fast, life-saving response times for patients with chest pain or stroke symptoms; cardiology, including specialized surgical services; orthopedics, including rehabilitation; and psychiatric care.

Job Summary

Second in command. Must have direct reports. Ability to hire, fire and discipline staff.

Job Responsibilities

Assists controller in managing the accounting department staff and ensures month end close process is completed timely. Right hand to the controller in preparing the annual budget with guidance from the CFO and Region/Market.

Ensures, along side of the controller, the entire balance sheet is reconciled timely. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. Continuous progress toward becoming a controller.

Education

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

Experience

Required: Three (3) years accounting experience.

Preferred: Healthcare experience.
