What Your Days Will be Like:
Become part of the Accounting/Finance team as the Assistant Controller. This position will report into the Corporate Controller and work directly with senior leaders across the organization. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the complexities of a growing global company. As the Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for managing all facets of the corporate accounting group, including i) general ledger accounting/close; (ii) financial reporting; (iii) accounts payable, and (iv) SOX control reporting. You will also be involved in financial reporting to our parent company (IAC) on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
What You'll Be Working on:
Coordinate an accurate and timely month end close, including monitoring and managing the activities of the team/direct reports
Ensure books and records comply with U.S. GAAP
Review and post journal entries
Prepare monthly financial results and fluctuation analyses to be reviewed by the Controller and CFO
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as Sarbanes-Oxley; assist the Manager of Financial Reporting & SOX in reviewing and maintaining a system of internal controls to ensure compliance of all accounting procedures; review and update applicable SOX documentation as necessary
Review and enhance the Company's documentation of account reconciliations
Oversee the internal audit and external audit processes, including quarterly reviews and the year-end audit
Interact with cross-functional teams to resolve challenges, drive operational improvement, and enhance financial processes
Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions; lead the review and assessment of the accounting treatment for non-routine transactions
Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year, and then monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff
What You'll Need to Succeed:
10+ years of total accounting experience with an increased level of responsibility
Strong experience working in publicly traded companies either in Corporate Industry, Public Accounting, or a combination of the two
Strong GAAP knowledge, knowledge of GAAP with the respect to a Technology company a plus
Significant Sarbanes-Oxley knowledge
Strong, technical accounting skills and ability to quickly adapt, problem solve and determine solutions to complex accounting and operational challenges
Experience working under pressure to meet deadlines as they arise
Proven experience leading and developing a team of professionals
Demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies, offer recommendations for improvements, and implement solutions
Experience using various financial systems and Microsoft Excel
Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, Masters is a Plus
CPA certification required

Salary Range: 150,000 to 180,000.
The base salary range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the national salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Care.com's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and short- and long-term incentives.
